Ric, you're thinking of Megadeth. Mustaine was not the singer or main lyricist of Metallica at any point. While he was the first lead guitarist, Lars Ulrich and James Hetfield were the founders of Metallica.

And no, that is definitely Hetfield singing. I am a fan of both Metallica and Megadeth, I can tell apart Hetfield and Mustaine.
