I saw him play in 2003 at Buffalo State College. The school was having a few events happening around the student union that same night. I ended up being the only one to stay for the entire show. It was a dark fire-side room with just couch seating. A few dozen people came and went but didn’t stay long. Between every song Michael talked to me. He talked about seeing Little Meggie running around his friend’s house.

He said that he wanted some of his music to be darker, like how nature has many sides. Then he played Room of Doom. I talked with him and his girlfriend briefly after the show. I wanted to buy this CD, but he didn't have change for a 20, I went out to break it. On my way back I bought him a bottle of water from a vending machine, there wasn’t anything to drink in the fireside room. I must have listened to this a thousand times now. He is a phenomenally talented man and shockingly humble.
