About This Album
Guitarist Mike Hartman overcame a bleak prognosis from cystic fibrosis to achieve his goal of becoming an ace guitarist and songwriter. Though doctors predicted he wouldn't live to the age of ten, will and luck were on Hartman's side, giving him the strength to live and collaborate with guitar heroes like Whitesnake's Rudy Sarzo and Danzig's John Christ. Ultimately, Hartman released his 1999 debut titled Black Glue, which features heavy tracks like the title track, "Why Me?" and "Stomp," as well as gentle acoustic pieces like "A Song for Jeanie." Both styles showcase Hartman's guitar prowess and songwriting skills. Part of the proceeds from Black Glue will be donated to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, making the album worthwhile socially and musically. ~ Heather Phares, All Music Guide
