The Human Condition
About This Album
Comfortably straddling the tenuous line dividing hip-hop and experimental electronic music, Ming & FS have seen the future, and The Human Condition is the sound of their distinctive vision. Take "Freak," for instance. An infectious slice of rump-shaker silliness, the song sounds like a collaboration between Yello, Chic, and the Chemical Brothers, with up-tempo electro-funk and furious scratching topped off with a strip-club-ready vocal hook ("Bad girl/Such a pretty little girl/Look what you done did!") that hacks like DJ Assault would kill for. "Some Die" is a 21st century G-funk anthem, with an R&B-influenced vocal line that gives way to a razor-sharp drum'n'bass rhythm halfway through, while "Captain Omray's Mumble Box" finds guest Omri kicking some seriously futuristic beatbox that must be heard to be believed. From the 2-step garage flavors of "Uncle Bubble" to the back-to-the-future hip-hop vibe of "Simple Mathematics," Ming & FS represent the vast realms of promise 21st century hip-hop and techno have to offer. ~ Bret Love, All Music Guide
