My Fair Lady
About This Album
The definitive recording of one of the all-time best musical comedies still sounds fresh and dynamic nearly half a century after its initial release. Packed with delights, My Fair Lady represented a gold standard in the recording (and sales) of Broadway cast albums. This 2002 release includes two curiosities as bonus tracks: a brief conversation with the obviously tired and somewhat giddy stars taped immediately after the original 14-hour recording session, and a later conversation with Lerner & Loewe (taped in 1961) featuring a discussion of their writing techniques, including snippets of alternate versions of some songs from My Fair Lady, Gigi, and Camelot. The bulk of the album, however, contains the original, marvelous Broadway cast in crisply remastered monaural sound. My Fair Lady never sounded better. ~ Neil Shurley, All Music Guide
