About This Album
The least enthralling of the Mysteries' releases, Anonymous Tip is the second of two independent EPs bridging the gap between the band's first and second albums. The best tune of the bunch is the first, "I Need To Know Where I Stand," in which Jake Smith's catchy melody is elegantly bared by guest Lisa Germano's sparse orchestral instrumentation. The rest of the songs here are passable Midwestern rock (and a Jam cover), but don't quite live up to the quality of the Mysteries' other recordings. "Let It Slip" was reprised for 1998's Come Clean. ~ Troy Carpenter, All Music Guide
