About This Album
The Swingin's Mutual!, Nancy Wilson's third album, was an excellent collaboration with the George Shearing Quintet. Originally Wilson participated on six of the 12 selections but since five new tracks (with only one vocal) have been added, she is now on seven out of seventeen. Very much under the influence of Dinah Washington at this point, Wilson is in generally good form particularly on "The Nearness of You," "All Night Long," and "The Things We Did Last Summer." As far as the instrumentals by pianist Shearing's Quintet go, "I Remember Clifford," "Evansville," "Blue Lou," and "Lullaby of Birdland" are most memorable with short solos heard from vibraphonist Warren Chiasson and guitarist Dick Garcia.
