I suspected as much. It's such a gorgeous statue-- but it's sad, because if you look at the version of it near me, you can tell that it's a child's coffin.
there are many copies of that statue. I think the original is in Italy. it's such a well-known statue... I think it's called "The Angel of Grief" or something around the lines of that...
I love the album cover! It is actually a statue in a cemetary near me! (Not with the album name, of course.) I don't know if it's the only one, though, or if there are more copies.
OMG with this fussing! can we just praise this album without bringing up the subject of "Tarja vs. Anette: Who's better?" I really liked this album. amazing! :) too many favorite songs, can't name just one. :)
More samples of Anette's singing are needed before anyone can diffinitively pass judgement on who is the better vocallist. All that is really known about the new girl is that she is definately not Tarja. She is Anette. She has talent and promise, but hasn't hit her stride in this band yet. Give her time to find her place. Don't damn her because she adds a new flavor to Nightwish, but don't praise her for this either. Difference is neither better, nor worse --just different.
Tarja's voice carried this band, while Annette sounds pretty, the operatic highs of Tarja are what pulled you into these songs. It's so unfortunate that this breakup occurred as they used to be such a perfect group.
You should give Annette some time to see if she gets as good as Tarja did. Most singers improve over time. She's only been with Nightwish for a year. She might get better.
Annette harmonizes better with Marco than Tarja does, but Tarja's haunting, operatic voice soars higher on its own than Annette's voice could ever hope to reach, even with Marco's to back it up.
Tarja and Marco will always be the real spirits of Nightwish; Annette can't touch that.
I'm not sure which singer is better, both are pretty good. I also think this album is one of the most underrated albums of all time. Heck, Nightwish is very underrated. I know like 2 people who have heard of them before I told them. Need more exposure.
Nemo, creek mary's blood, the siren, wish i had an angel, dark chest of wonders, higher than hope ... all are simply stunning. The vocals are really good and the symphonic touch to the guitar makes the songs special.
great album, especially dark chest of wonders, wish i had an angel, the siren, and romanticide. i love the internationa l aspect of creek mary's blood. and the cover art is so hauntingly perfect (no pun intended, since i saw it in a cemetary...) this is probably the only nightwish album i've seen in stores.
From what I've listened to, this is Nightwish's best album. ''Nemo'' is such a beautiful song...the lyrics are beautiful and very moving. ''Dark Chest of Wonders'' and ''Ghost Love Score'' have such an epic sound to them! ''Higher than Hope'' is a beautiful song as well... bah, I'm rambling! Amazing band though!
This is at once their best album, and an indication of the direction of the bands future. With such diversity and excelent lyrical quality it will be a challenge to do any better than this album!
