In reply to Crowned and Conquering, I agree with most of what you say despite the fact that I like this album. However, I don't believe DG was trying to imitate Roger. "Dogs" is not a throwback to Animals. "Dogs of War" is a reference to Shakespeare, as in "Cry havock! Set loose the dogs of war." A good metaphore that suits a subject that was a hot topic especially in England at the time.

Saw them in the Orange Bowl perform this album. Like all Pink Floyd concerts I went home completely changed for lfe....

I had a siezure a couple years back, and when i went in for a cat scan they asked me what album i wanted to listen to... out of some sence of humor, Momentary Lapse of Reason turned out to be the most fitting for the situation... too bad they ruined it by overloading the headphones.. . all i got was a blairing in my ear adding to the sounds of the machine...

Heard this album almost 20 years back..was in the 8th grade then. I remember being really struck by the music even at that age. Loved Terminal Frost, Learning to Fly.

I think its a pretty good album, but I also think that Dave spent too much time taking shots at Roger, so it's not as good as it could be.

I remember seeing the Momentary Lapse - Europe tour at the Frankfurt Festhalle in 1990 and it rocked. It may not be the old floyd, but it is / was definitely a great live show. They did a lot of bits from earlier stuff during the concert. The Laser show was awesome and the flying pig and bed sliding from the back of the hall to the front and exploding in a wall of fire was aewsome. Truly a great show.

No, c'mon! There really is no argument, this is NOT Pink Floyd. Great music is great music, but I am not sure that this album really qualifies as that as a whole. I mean, seriously, DOGS OF WAR?? The whole song is Dave so wishing he could write like Roger...uhhh . . D o g s (off of Animals) and Roger's obsession with War. Not Floyd.

Yo, cmeyers25-- I wouldn't exactly call the "More" soundtrack or "Obscured by Clouds" "strong". A lot of filler, formless psychedelics and fluffy instrumental s that were really only meant as atmosphere for scenes in the movies they were from-- albeit, between some really good songs, which are enough to still make them worth the price of admission.

Brilliance is as brilliance does. Floyd had begun much, and played around with and dared much. This one, too! All part of the process.

I'm not saying it's the absolute best album from the boys. It can't shake a stick at Dark Side, Wish You Were Here or Animals. But it's not the weakest. Besides, even the weakest Floyd is better than many artists' best.

I like to say that if side 1 of this with "One Slip" dropped was combined with Rog's "When The Wind Blows" soundtrack, this would have been a great Pink Floyd album. Such as it is, it's only a pretty good one.

A lot of argument as to whether this is genuine Floyd-- with no Waters, only Gilmore and Mason on full time, and Wright only doing atmospheric fills. I say who cares? You can call it the Gilmore-Maso n project-- or even Pots and Pans. Great music is great music.
