Once The Downward Road failed to sell in the U.S., the Pursuit of Happiness was left without an American record contract. Undaunted, they continued to move forward in their native Canada, releasing Where's the Bone in 1995. The album wasn't remarkably different from the group's other records -- it was the same blend of crunching arena rock and tuneful power-pop -- but it had enough moments of fine craftmanship ("Completely Conspicuous," "Young and In Love," "Ritual") to make it worth seeking out for long-term fans, even if Moe Berg's smirking humor prevents it from being of interest to new listeners. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide
