This inventive drummer sets a few fires on this exciting disc. With full brass complement by David Sanchez on tenor, Kenny Garrett on alto and soprano, and Graham Hayes on flugelhorn and cornet, Roy Haynes lays a textured and complex rhythm through such tunes as Charlie Parker's "My Little Suede Shoes" and Chick Corea's "Mirror Mirror." The closing drum solo proves without a doubt the melodic palette of percussion.
