About This Album
Calling an album Casio is about as close as a band can come to calling an album "Generic New Wave Revival Album, Synths and Squeaky Vocals Division." Sure enough, lead singer Kristen Louise is rocking the Lene Lovich hiccup for all its worth, and her musical partner Veuve Pauli takes all of his vintage synth ideas straight out of the early Mute Records catalog. With five of the album's eight songs breaking the six-minute barrier and the other three not far below, Sixteens take musical ideas that would have a certain retro charm at half their length and spin them into abject tedium. While Casio would have a degree of utility if every album ever recorded between 1979 and 1984 had somehow been vaporized, it merely sounds pointless and redundant now. ~ Stewart Mason, All Music Guide
