About This Album
The highest-charting Christian album on the Billboard charts since 2006, Awake could be tagged as Skillet's mainstream breakthrough on that fact alone. Certainly, the band's monster modern rock does sound like it could slip onto on active rock playlist -- maybe not quite in 2009, but earlier in the decade, when metallic rockers heavy on the guitar downstrokes, and power ballads with chant-along vocals were relatively common. That's not to say that Skillet sounds out-of-step with the times -- there's still a gleam to the Howard Benson production that sounds modern -- and they do mange to imprint their own identity on this sometimes-generic brand of contemporary rock, thanks to their communal vocals, with male and female voices trading off, and skyscraper hooks. Skillet also don't always focus solely on religion, as many of their songs are grounded in inspirational positivity, so that's another reason why Awake finds the band poised to break into the mainstream. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide

I love Skillet just seen them in concert for the 3rd time last month!!!! I love the song "Dont Wake Me"... but yeah Hero really makes this CD the best!!=>

I haven't listened to all of the samples, and actually am just getting my first taste of the album on here. Listening to "One Day to Late". Enjoying it. xD
Hero, though, is definitely one of the songs that seriously makes this album. |

The only thing I have a problem with on this CD, is that from the samples, there aren't enough heavy fast tracks.
Hero is really a pull to get the CD though...It' s a tough call. Any thoughts? |

Love Skillet. Loved the albumn Comatose. I didn't dig some of the stuff on here(Hero... ) but most is really great. Never Surrender is a absolutely wonderful song.

I am a faithful Panhead! I love this album so so so much! Every song on the album is amazing! It isn't hard to make such a good cd when you have a great band like Skillet!!!!! ! ! ! My favorite tracks are Hero, Monster, It's Not Me It's You, Never Surrender, and Lucy!!! The music videos for Hero and Monster are now avalible and they are both really good and really cool! I just have one question, who all loves John's forgiven tattoo?

Yaaaaaaaaaaa a a y ! They finally have this CD on here! I love all of them! <3 Lucy is a good one but I my favorites are Hero, Monster, Awake and Alive, Believe, Sometimes, and Never Surrender.

Outstanding cd even though they toned it down a bit from collide and comatose. My favorites are Hero, Monster, One Day Too Late, and Believe. I love it when bands use their talents for God.
