The reunion of the original Slayer lineup appears for the first time in the studio since 1990's Seasons in the Abyss (a record that topped off one of the great four-album stands in metal history: Hell Awaits, Reign in Blood, and South of Heaven preceded it). Drummer Dave Lombardo's retaking of the drum chair places the band back on the edge, pushing themselves and the genre to look back at where they've been and where they go from here. For a band that has been together as long as Slayer has, they have never made concessions and have stubbornly refused to sound like anyone but themselves. Christ Illusion is a raging, forward-thinking heavy metal melding with hardcore thrash; this is what made them such a breath of fresh air in the first place. And while they no longer sound terrifying, that was never their point anyway. Slayer rips through these ten songs, complete with lightning changes, off-kilter rhythms, and riff invention, together with plodding crescendos, sick-as-hell guitar breaks, and dark, unrelentingly twisted-as-f*ck lyrics that reflect a singular intensity. The big themes on Christ Illusion center on the perverse myth of religion and its responsibility for, and cause of, war.

Ok, slayer is NOT in favor of God. Read the lyrics and you'll understand. And if you dont want to, just read the names of the songs on the album. Its pretty obvious to me what they stand for.

They are actually a very important voice of reason and clarity IN FAVOR OF GOD. If you look at how many religions believe that if you are not a member of their faith, then u go to Hell, we are all going to hell regardless of our beliefs. Hell is shaped by perception. If you believe that it is a place of torture, then that is the way it will be for you. If, on the other hand, you believe that it is paradise, then you will be happy there. Waldo, I think that you have set yourself up. You will not know ecstasy in your next life. All you will know is pain.

u know where the term "Satan" comes from? It derives from the Arabic term Sheitan, which is simply a term used to refer to any demon. So, there is really no Satan. If u are looking for a head demon, there are so many to choose from. Asmedai (hebrew), Lucifer (Christian), Typhon (Egyptian), the list goes ever on. But anyway, organized religion sucks. Especially the psychotic TORTURER god that the Evangelicals believe in... I am going to hell, and I love it. After all, consider this:

I must say, this is by far one of Slayer's best albums. Very well composed (for Slayer that is; I love 'em, but they're no compositiona l geniuses!), and very well executed.

I just want to say they are so right. Why are Americans invading other countries? One terrorist attack happened, and now we are over there "liberating" their people because that's what a good "christian" nation does. If anyone thinks a presidential candidate is even remotely non-christia n they are done for,so slayer is right to say this is a christian vs muslim war.
