If it weren't for the puttering keyboard sounds, the Standard might otherwise be another post-grunge casualty. With its jagged guitar and screechy vocals, this self-titled release (produced by Jeff Saltzman, fresh from his work with Stephen Malkmus) has just enough raw rock and melody to keep it interesting.
