Tesla was a great hard rock band living in a time of pop-metal giants. Though they had some big hits, highlighted by an unplugged cover of "Signs" and the terrific epic "Love Song," they never were as flashy as, say, Poison, so they didn't reach the charts as often. Also, they weren't as recognizably "serious" as Metallica or Queensryche, so they didn't get written about in magazines outside of guitar publications, who were always thirsty for hard rock guitarists of any fashion. But they were an excellent hard rock band, with real passion and power, and a great set of tunes. Their volume of 20th Century Masters may not hit all of their peaks, but it hits enough of them to make it worthwhile for most casual fans. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide
Have seen these guys in Sacramento, their home town, seven times and they are always awesome... Their music always gets me going when I hear it come on the radio.
Saw them in 2006 w/Kenny Wayne Shepard(sp). Sat front row in the round. VERY impressive. Agree with F8photo in that their first album, which stands as a greatest hits album in itself because there isn't a weak tune on it, is standard setting. Keith is the first singer I'd heard sing with that much oomph since Roger Daltrey.
Still the best HARD ROCKIN BAND to arrive on the scene in the 80's. Their first album still sets a standard by which other bands should try to live up to!!!
