Purity Pledge
About This Album
The hardcore sludge of Todd's Purity Pledge combines forceful vocals and volcanic instrumentation in a whirlwind attempt to re-create the band's murky, gutteral live sound on disc. The power chords merge with lyrics about what society would rather slide under the rug. "Little Dipper to Squirrel" is reminiscent of Motörhead, while the crunchy "Sedan" features feedback and nearly six minutes of layers and layers of gritty chaos. Drummer Francis Axe Handel, keyboardist Fifi, singer Emmylou Sunshine, guitarist John Webb, and vocalist/guitarist Craig Clouse join forces to create the subversive quintet on Purity Pledge. The title track is saved until track seven, and its power and unfiltered anger serve as the peak of the band's rage-filled collection. Overall, the disc is an assortment of basement metal jams sure to confuse some, but arouse many. ~ Stephen Cramer, All Music Guide
