About This Album
With the exception of the final two songs, this set features Toninho Horta live as an unaccompanied acoustic guitarist/vocalist. Horta's singing, like that of Dori Caymmi, is so subtle and quiet as to be nearly under his breath. His guitar playing is melodic and lightly rhythmic, and makes him sound almost like the Brazilian Earl Klugh. The solo setting is perfect for Horta, who creates a haunting performance. "I Love You" and "Arirang" have Horta joined by Jack Lee on electric guitar, but the style of soothing music is the same as on the rest of this rewarding CD. ~ Scott Yanow, All Music Guide
