The Tuesdays
About This Album
If it's originality you're looking for, look elsewhere. This debut from a quintet of Norwegian women sounds so much like the Bangles that the American group might want to consider a lawsuit. There's also a hint of ABBA and the Beatles in these tunes, most of which are about being young, in love, and a little wild. As you may guess from titles like "It's Up to You," "What Is Love," and "Gone with the Wind," the lyrics aren't a whole lot more original than the music. But while this may be formula rock, it's a very good formula -- and the Tuesdays have got it down pat. There are shimmering harmonies, irresistible jangly guitar chords, hummable melodies, and hooks galore. There may be no new ground broken here, but the album is lots of fun anyway. ~ Jeff Burger, All Music Guide
