It's easy to dismiss this band as a one-hit wonder -- surely the album has nothing quite as infectious as the single, "Turning Japanese." New Clear Days is, however, a fine example of punchy Brit-pop in the vein of The Jam that holds up better than most albums from the period. ~ Chris Woodstra, All Music Guide

Well, I guess I better give it a second listen because I dismissed this a brainless Brit Pop in the 80's. Wait a second, this isn't the David Bowie page.
Waiting for the Weekend, Spring Collection, and Letter from Hiro are actually better than Turning Japanese. Solid social commentary but too easily dismissed as brainless brit pop.
News at Ten and Spring Collection are great pop-rock songs. This is a solid edgy updated mid-60s influenced album. I think their sound is similar to The Jam, the very early Who, the Small Faces and the more rock n roll Beatles around 1964 or 65. Some social commentary in there like most of the punks, Billy Bragg and Dylan.
