The Warmers
About This Album
The Warmers sport some semi-impressive indie and D.C.-hardcore pedigrees, mainly in the presence of Alec Mackaye (Ignition, Faith) and the more recognizable Ian Mackaye producing. These pedigrees are well lived up to on the band's self-titled LP, which strips down the sound of hardcore into a muscular minimalism that casts off the scene's frantic energy and bombast in favor of solid and appealing indie -- many of the tracks on Warmers wind up reaching back to the punk and post-punk influences that lies behind both the indie and hardcore scenes, meaning the best sonic reference for the band would be something along the lines of Gang of Four. It's a solid and impressive sound, and this is a solid, impressive, and frequently amazing album. ~ Nitsuh Abebe, All Music Guide
