About This Album
The hyphy-inspired mixtape hosted by DJ Rick Lee shows off the beats and rhymes of the Bay Area hip-hop group Zion I. The tracks here on Street Legends are a bit hit-or-miss, with the duo seeming to try too frequently to produce stylistically popular-sounding songs instead of just letting their natural lyricism and beat structure guide the album. Some of the songs too, are taken from 2003's Deep Water Slang V2.0, rather unnecessarily, but there is still some worthwhile stuff here ("Ride," "Do That There"), at least in mixtape terms. ~ Marisa Brown, All Music Guide
