12 Stones
Biography
12 Stones were formed in the small New Orleans suburb of Mandeville, LA. The group was mostly still in their teens when they formed the lineup of vocalist Paul McCoy, bassist Kevin Dorr, guitarist Eric Weaver, and drummer Aaron Gainer. After performing no more than 12 live performances, they took their demo to New York City and performed at an industry showcase. The band ended up signing to Wind Up Records to record their debut album with producer Jay Baumgardner. The album saw a release in 2002, less than two years after the formation of the group. More success came to the band in 2003, when McCoy duetted on "Bring Me to Life" with Evanescence, which became a smash hit and was included on the Daredevil soundtrack as well as Evanescence's debut album, Fallen. 12 Stones released their second album, Potter's Field, which featured a heavier, more guitar-driven sound than their debut. After taking a break from music to spend time with their families, the band reconvened to make their third album. Inspired by the effects of Hurricane Katrina on their hometown, 12 Stones recorded Anthem for the Underdog in Memphis, TN, with Justin Rimer and Skidd Mills during the better part of 2006, and the album was released in 2007. ~ Bradley Torreano, All Music Guide

I could give you a reason as to why there are so many contradictio n s , but, seeing as this place has once again become a place to comment on music, you will have to message me on my message log thingy.
I think it would be for your advantage to do that. But those versions of the bible are the real living Word. Study those, and you'll get the Truth. |
Joseph, I love the sinner and hate the sin. I understand where your comming from.
Thanks for the concern. I do agree that this is a place for music talk, but I saw my God being trashes, and came to the defence, not that He needs me to. Corey, I believe the Bible you need to read (should you want to read it) is the New King James Version, or the English Standard Version. Perhaps the New Internationa l version. These are all the actual scriptures, the true ones, written in English. |
You know, I guess I just lied really bad right there! My previous 2 posts were saying what my last post said this space shouldn't be for! (wow, that was worded confusingly! ) . Sorry about that everyone! Anyone else think that Potter's Field is 12's best album?

Corey, Moe--or Ryan or Clark for that matter--if you'd ever like to have an intelligent and non-confront a t i o n a l debate about the Bible, Christianity , or anything pertaining to these topics (or the New England Patriots! :)), send me an email at joseph.j.nor m a n d i n @ g m a i l . c o m , and I'd be glad to discuss in detail. Because like Corey said way back, this is NOT the forum for that discussion. This is the forum to discuss 12 Stones, which is an excellent hard rock band.

Forgiveness, selflessness , commitment, love, honor, faithfulness , loyalty, honesty, brotherhood, I could on and on. Also, at least this is the way I was taught by my Pastor, a REAL Christian loves the homosexual, but hates homosexualit y , loves the liar, but hates lying, etc. We, as humans, are all sinners, so it's impossible not to sin, so we should NEVER hate the sinner, but hate the sin instead.
You never offended me, Ryan. Looking back, I shouldn't have said you were ignorant, because clearly you are a well-educate d and intelligent man. It's just that the back and forth that was going on reminded me a lot of 2 opposites pitted against each other, and that ALWAYS makes me cringe, no matter what the subject matter is. You're absolutely right about the bible as well. The bible has a plethora of the MOST IMPORTANT life lessons anyone could ever learn, exactly like you said. Forgiveness, se
if i have ever offended someone, or confused their beliefs, that is not what i had in mind, and i sincerely apologize.
instead, i choose to take the things that actually matter from the Bible. like the good lessons that i can actually apply to everyday life, like forgiveness or not showing favoritism or not committing adultery and stuff like that. i highly doubt that any deity, no matter what your beliefs, would place the same emphasis on the belief in some things, like the shape of the world or how the heavens are formed, as the lessons that should be taken from a holy book.
if i thought the Bible was 100% true, i would need to go out and kill homosexuals. while i dont really agree with the homosexual lifestyle, i definitely do not feel that those people need to die. or, following the Bible word for word, i wouldnt ever be able to sit somewhere where a girl has menstruated. that just seems pretty darn hard to avoid honestly (good luck sitting down in a public place).
honestly, i never wanted this to be about religion. i actually wanted to comment about the band a while back, until i saw that Ryan was trying to tell someone that every single thing in the Bible was true. and its not that i dont believe in God, its simply that Christianity shouldnt be about forcing their beliefs down someone's throat. and for Ryan to say that everything in the Bible is true, just pissed me off.
Couldn't agree with you more, Dark Angel and breanntallen t 5 . This isn't a forum to discuss religion, rather to discuss 12 Stones, a great band whose members are Christians, BUT DON'T PREACH AT PEOPLE ABOUT THEIR BELIEFS. I'm a Christian but it seems like both sides of the argument here are just as ignornat as each other. Why is it that religion has to be so divisive? Ryan, I've been a Christian for many years and always cringe when fundamentali s t s like yourself go off on non-belivers like Corey

As far as a house getting leprosy. Leprosy is a disease, a particularly nasty one at that, spread by germs and bacteria. If some one got leprosy they would slowly rot while still alive. So the directions that are given there are for the houses of those that had leprosy, so it wouldn't spread to others.

Ecclesiastes 1:5 simple says that the sun rises and sets. It doesn't say that the earth is stationary. Isaiah 40:22 does say that He sits above the circle of the earth. If you read it in context it's saying that God is in control. As Ryan said you have to study the bible if you want to quote it. You can make the bible say many different things if you take things out of context. That's why you really need to study it to understand.
Corey,
God uses metaphors, just like any of us. Let's start with those verses that you're quoting. Isaiah 11:12 and Revelation 7:1 refer to the four corners of the earth. Think about a compass not a shape. Jeremiah 16:19 and Daniel 4:11 refer to the ends of the earth. Here He's talking about people all over the earth. Psalm 104:5 says the can't not be moved, not that it can't move. He's says that he created it, and it will remain until He says otherwise. |
if the earth is a sphere, as everyone knows, why didnt they say that god sits above the ball, or egg, or ANYTHING that mildly resembles the world we see today? for some serious LOLZ check out the bible, starting at about Leviticus 14:33. it tells you what you should do if your house gets leprosy. and i dont mean the people living in the house.... i mean like the bricks and junk that the house is made of. HAHAHAHAHAHA H A H A H A H A H H A H A H A H A H A ! ! ! ! !
im not gonna bother asking about why god would refer to himself in the plural form. i guess ill just chalk that up to the trinity. the bible says the world is flat. im curios how something that is round can have corners. check: Isiah 11:12, Revelation 7:1, Job 38:13, Jeremiah 16:19, and Daniel 4:11. according to the bible, the world cannot move: Psalm 104:5, Ecclesiastes 1:5. Isiah 40:22 says that the world is flat. it says that god lives above the CIRCLE of earth.
out of curiosity, which version of the bible am i supposed to study? cuz i mean theres a Judahite narrative, and theres a Ephraim narrative, and then theres the Judahite narrative with a Priestly document added to it. the "J" narrative says that Adam was created, followed by the garden, then the animals, and then Eve. This account was not divided into days. when the J and E versions were combined, the 6 day creation story was added. which is it Ryan??? why are there so many contradictio n s ? ? ?
this isn't church, quit preaching. you're not impressing anyone, and you're not going to change anyone's mind
Live for God and call yourself a Christian, or don't go all out for God and drop the title. There is no middle ground. It's God or not. No your way, wake up and study the bible!
Jesus would rather have someone who is hot or cold, not lukewarm. Read Revelations, it's there. Wake up lukewarms and stop spreading lies! |
Corey, the Bible does not say the world is flat.
Never. It is a lie to say the bible says that. Flat out lie. It's a shame that you were fed that lie. That lie is condemnable and is a joke. I'm sorry you were fed that false gospel junk, but you have lukewarm "christians" feeding that kinda junk. Those same lukewarm, "I follow God my way" people are the worst their are! If any one here is lukewarm, wake up, and read the bible. You are doing far more damage than you can even begin to understand. |
so how about the bible saying that the world is flat? or where it says that the sun, stars, planets, etc all revolve around the earth? the bible is true... my a**!!
Moe, how about archeologica l findings. They have found Noah's Ark exactly where the bible said it would be and in the dimensions that it says it would be.
http://www.d i s c o v e r y n e w s . u s / P r i n t e d A r t i c l e s / N o a h ' s % 2 0 A r k . h t m This is just one of many archeologica l findings. They have also found paintings the back they accounts in the book of Ester. The evidence is there, and it proves the bible is true. Not to mention all the predictions about the future are coming true. |
Hey guys this is a page for a band, please go somewhere else to debate your religious views.
After Kevin Dorr left, they havent sounded the same. Still a great band, nonetheless.
I back Jennifer in this. Not a single one of you can point to anything that isn't based upon faith. Faith is just a person's excuse for holding onto something they cannot logically explain. You can bring up the Bible, Torah, Quran... whatever, and all you do is point to a book someone wrote. Stories you and no one living has any proof of. Nothing other than the say so of someone who is long dead. The enquirer in 2000 years. The rest of you go ahead and preach on... it helps us out!
I didnt know this was a christan thing. I thought you were supost to comment about the songs, If people are going to be stupid and start commenting about gd and other peoples religons then they should back off. I dont belive in god i am wicca, People wanna crizace me? No i didnt think so so leave otehr peoples religons alone and just comment the same songs and artists. Yes i am a horible speller so what.
hey jenniferdoug l a s . . . just so you know, you can have your opinion, but you dont have to attack us for ours. i mean i feel bad for you cuz you dint know God, and i really hope youll come to know him and not try to just go and attack Christians. nobody's putting a gun to your head.
godsmack was good about ten years ago. they pretty much blow now. i think ive realized that i cant find one of their songs where they dont say "baby" every other word. friggin retarded.

Jennifer: You miss the point. The bible says all things work out for the good of those who love Him.
How God does this is beyond are understandin g . The bible also says God's most foolish thought is wiser than mans wisest thought. That means that God's stupidest idea, is alot better than mans smartest thought. God's real. You either believe it or not. God's always taken care of me, through situation that should have cost me my life. Ask God to show you He's real, and mean it. God will show. |
hey thanks for praying for me ryan. im praying that you dont get a big let-down when you die :)
I love how people today still passionately hold on to beliefs from the bronze age! Hello! What else from that period is still relevant? Nothing because we learned that god doesn't make thunder because he's angry and that sacrificing humans to make it rain doesn't work but somehow half of America runs around thinking that there's this god that see's everything and that cares about you and will take care of you and spite your enemies if they cross you. It's absolutely ridiculous. I don't believe i
What the F are you B's babbling about?! STFU already and talk about music.
ryan... i have no idea what the heck youre talkin about a plane ride for... and just because the earth is covered by 70% water, that doesnt mean that another 30% will completely cover the earth. you would have to take into account the amount of water needed to cover up all the mountains on earth. and you bring up one of my major beefs with people like you. "Fact arguements don't do anything, but you need to take God's Word as Truth." I dont understand why people like you cant ever see facts.
why is it that people push thier belief that you should not push your belief
There must be a wrong to be a right I believe that is the bible and therefore I must believe the rest are wrong and truth is truth even if you don't believe it. |
ok... again...
Everyone has their own personal beliefs. There have been thousands of different religions through time that have come and gone. To each their own, but to push your religion on somebody is wrong. Leave people to believe in what they want to. Everyone draws their strength from something different, whether it be through a belief in god or gods, or in my case the love of my family and friends. |
You need to remember though. Fact arguements don't do anything, but you need to take God's Word as Truth. Nothing else will save you but by faith in God alone.
Nothing. It's up to you to decide if you want to believe it or not. The choice is yours. Praying for you. =) |
Coreyclum... a boat was made and it survived, along with those on it.
Anyway, take a plane ride from dallas tx, to LA and on a clear day, you will see that a 3 hour flight, and the fact that your roughly 35,000 feet up with alot more space, that if the earth had a thingy of water above it, it could easly cover the land. Besides, the earth is mostly water, it would only take 30% more water than there already is. Not hard really. |
Makijah, How do you know that the Bible isn't real historical fact if you don't even know what it says??? You're speaking out of ignorance.I agree with Ryan.
