Biography
Alter Bridge resurrected the music-making portion of Creed. After that band's 2004 dissolution, guitarist Mark Tremonti and drummer Scott Phillips tapped ousted bassist Brian Marshall for the new project. Ex-Mayfield Four frontman Myles Kennedy was soon on board as well, and Alter Bridge made their Wind-Up debut in August 2004 with One Day Remains. Written largely by Tremonti, the record tried to lean more toward a hard rock/metal sound than the post-grunge grandstanding of his previous group. After touring the world to support the album, the band decided to leave Wind-Up and sign with the Universal imprint Republic. In late 2007 the label released Blackbird, an album that featured more songwriting contributions from Kennedy. ~ Johnny Loftus, All Music Guide

It better not be the end of Alter Bridge. I'm going to be seriously pissed if that happens. Even if it turns out like that, at least I can look forward Myles Kennedy in his solo career. That should be great. Creed should be locked away with the key disintegrate d . I will have it no other way.

I certainly hope a Creed reunion doesnt mean the end to this band. I like em ALOT better than Creed.

I agree we need to spread the word about Alter Bridge. When Daughtry's music came out and got so popular, I was saying to myself. "Hey Alter Bridge has a similar formula and is just as good if not better than Daughtry. They should be getting a piece of that fame." Nothing against Chris Daughtry, great vocalist and I wish him the best but I don't like how they are insanely popular over Alter Bridge.

I agree no one seems to know who these guys are. Coming from and "old school" rock guy, they are one of THE best bands to imerge in many years. Song writing musicianship and over all message put them light years ahead of whats being spoon fed to us on local radio. Just my simple thoughts.

I hate how I have to mention Creed whenever I tell people about Alter Bridge. We need a huge hit to get the word out!!

I can't beleive not many people noticed Creed's triplets had joined together with Kennedy. I ask people if they have heard of Alter Bridge, "no" if they have heard of Creed "yes". I have also heard people that think Creed are still on the road. We need to spread the word of AB. TREMONTI 4-EVA

Alterbridge is awesome, one of the few bands out there that are BETTER live! I've seen them twice, once for each albums tour and they are the best. Miles has an awesome voice and Mark is the best lead guitar out there! Can't wait for their next album (if Myles doesn't go on tour with Led Zepplin as further proof of his awesomeness! LOL)

if you listen to the 2nd album, blackbird.. there isnt any sign of a "power ballad" singer.. scottrose3 is totally off with that stereotype of Myles Kennedy. if anything, myles is a traditional rock singer with the range and frequency he can hit with his voice.. i would like dave grohl to try to sing and play the guitar like he does.. on top of the amazing vocals, you have one of the best guitar players around writing and playing these songs.. you might find only a few guitarists better than tre

I remember when I first got into alter bridge. The first song I listened to was "Ties that Bind" and I was immediately hooked on their music. I knew I had to buy the "Blackbird" album at that moment. They are one of a kind in their genre. I'm surprised their not universally well known right now.

After buying both albums & listening to them both all week, I think that the band is on solid. It feels they tried to shake the Creed stigma w/ 1DR and did so fairly well. I don't get as much of a spiritual vibe from them lyrically vs personal struggle of all kinds. Myles has a lot of potential to become a very successful hard rock power ballad singer but hasn't had that huge it just yet. Bbird is much more refined, the band's comfort level w/ each other is much more evident. I'd see them live.

I think Alterbridge is so spiritual and Blackbird I feel well track 4 is all about recovery.Hel l the whole album is.Alterbrid g e . . . A w s o m e ! ! !

This is only their 2nd album, & typically vocalist/fro n t m e n don't get completely comfortable until they're back in studio for the 3rd. The only reason Alter Bridge is still
together is b/c of the strength of the rest of the band IMO. AB needs to lose the power ballad singer and get somebody that's a little more rough around edges and maybe...mayb e they'll lose that Creed Stigma. Trying looking at the whole picture before making it personal next time huh? |

There are parts or Cornell I don't like either but his lyrics aren't one
of them. I feel that Myles so far is just another attempted copy cat vocalist that got lucky w/o having to risk his embarassment on Idol. Hell, David Cook is a much more talented artist (& that isn't saying much) than I've seen so far from Myles. That said, I am always open and looking for ways for him to become better. |

Saying that Cornell is a poser shows me that your post is completely baised drock. I didn't start this post to defend Cornell. I wasn't considering Myles's octive abilities when I wrote my 1st post. I was only debating Myles's fit w/ the rest of the band. Cornell is the epitome of originality for this generation of rockers. He's gone off on his own after having 2 very successful bands, & 1 that should've done more (Temple of the Dog). Lets see Myles do that or any other frontmen these days.

this is rediculous Scot rose...If & when Chris Cornell ever develops the VOcal repitiore that Kennedy has..then make a comparison. u have been so jaded 2 the industry that u can no longer differentiat e between powerful charasmatic & heartfelt music, and poser "scoop up the scraps" music, assuming that u ever could n the 1st place..lol & forgetting the fact that Kennedy can hit 4 octaves w/ ease..his masterful voice is laced w/ Tremonti's almost poetic and meticulous guitar play..kinda sad dude..

I'd like to hear what Scott Weiland would sound like w/ these guys. I just am somewhat dissapointed b/c there's so much more potential for AB that I think that Myles and get them too.

My only beef w/ AB is that Myles is trying to sound like Chris Cornell with hint of Steven Tyler and butchers the most of the songs off both albums. For me it just doesn't fit. I'd like to see what former front man Brett Scallions from Fuel or Zakk Wylde would sound like if he hooked up w/ these guys. I was hooked on Creed when they came out soley on the skill and sound of the band aside from Stapp. Tremonti was wise to seek out Phillips when Creed split. He's great and his style matches Mark.

I hate Creed (just don't like the singer's voice and preachy attitude, jmo) but this band has a nice sound. Sounds like the guitarist is taking lessons from Zack Wylde, Ozzy's guitarist. Singer reminds me of Shinedown's. Not bad though.

I dont think Creed and alterbridge should be compared to one another
they play two different types of music, AB has more of a heavy metal sound and creed was grunge or hard rock, but both are very good |

I heard AB live last year and LOVE SEXY Myles Kennedy! His voice is beautiful and Mark is one of the best guitar players I've heard! My favorite song is WATCH OVER ME and Myles played an acoustic version live that sounded awesome.

I hear Miles Kennedy might replace Robert Plant for the Led Zeppelin reunion tour this year. I have to see this one! Go AlterZepp!! Or would it be Led Bridge?
