Adema
Biography
Adema formed in the California Central Valley that spawned Korn and Videodrone. The melodic hard rock band consists of guitarist Mike Ransom, guitarist Tim Fluckey, bassist Dave DeRoo, drummer Kris Kohls, and singer Mark Chavez, the younger half-brother of Korn's Jonathan Davis. Adema consists of former members of Bakersfield bands Juice and SexArt, which included Davis and Ryan Shuck of Orgy. The lineup had been together for a year before ever performing live. The demos they wrote in that time secured them a deal with Arista after a major-label bidding war, created undoubtedly because of Chavez's family lineage. Their debut self-titled album was written in a northern California cabin where tight quarters and a little cabin fever resulted in productive (and slightly aggressive) sessions. Adema recorded the album in Los Angeles with producers Bill Appleberry (7th House) and Tobias Miller (Wallflowers guitarist). Adema was released in August 2001 and was considered by the music industry to be a test of hitmaker and new Arista president Antonio Reid's ability to succeed outside of the R&B genre. That success led to a coveted main stage spot on the Ozzfest tour and certified gold record the following year.
Adema released a six-song EP, Insomniac's Dream, before unleashing their full-length follow-up, the Howard Benson-produced Unstable in 2003. The album was a success, but the collapse of Arista left the group without a home, a problem soon remedied by the indie label Earache. Besides losing support from a major, the band also lost guitarist Mike Ransom and lead singer Mark Chavez, who left the band to pursue other interests. After sifting through numerous other aspiring crooners, the group settled on fellow Southern Californian Luke Caraccioli and headed back into the studio, and the resulting Planets was released in April 2005. This particular lineup didn't last long, however. Caraccioli quit the band soon after the album came out, though he was replaced the following year by Bobby Reeves, who had previously sung in the L.A. band LEVEL, bringing along with him guitarist Ed Faris. Signed to Immortal Records, Adema issued Kill the Headlights in summer 2007. ~ JT Griffith, All Music Guide

I lost interest in the band after mark left. First two albums are a good listen. The debut being the absolute s**t. Ive worn my copy to the point were it hardly reads.

"Giving In" is by far the best Adema song I've heard. Kicks my a**. But I haven't heard a whole album, just a few scattered songs, so I don't know if the rest of their stuff measures up.
(BTW... Looks to me like F**kin A named himself appropriatel y ; dude acts like a f**cking a**hole.) |
I think their first cd adema was the absalute best!!!10 outta 10 fukin a the rest idk
f**kin A just stop being a troll and saying stuff about bands just to piss people off. you might think its funny but it just makes the internet have a bad reputation
I like the old stuff.Killer vocals on their album Adema(Explic i t )
I totally agree!!! adema was it man, awesome album, I looked for it in the others the sounds was no where to be found . . . . alas . . . .
lol, the biggest thing that screwed this band was losing marky....i mean his raw energy made every song on Insomniac's Dream through Unstable legendary... the singer on planets...aw f u l . . . i ' m sorry but wtf? bobby reeves is helping adema achieve some of its former glory, but adema just isn't adema without marky's killer vocals.
I like every song on Adema, and dislike every other song I've heard by them! anyone else feel the same way??
Nice pop metal, almost like nu-metal but with none of the fury. A nice metal band that won't melt your face off but won't whine you to death either. A nice change from all the "I'm more METAL that you" OMNOMNOMNOMN O M N O M wanna be Slayer bullshit that has perpetutated the market and the metal scene ever since emo came out of the underground. This is a band that seems less concerned with how METAL they sound and more about muscianship and quality lyrics and notjust a bunch of s**t about Satan.

I own Ustable and Adema, which I enjoy thoughly. I need to listen to the newer things, the fact that they aren't explicit worries me. I hope they didn't tone themselves down.
... sadly to say these guys had a few hits and alot of misses at least to me. I dont like anything on Kill The Headlights at all.
i totally agree with darren james on that one, this cd is a weird de-evolution of the band, and their best song was "giving up" anyway!
Planets is a horrible CD if you are a fan of the first 2 CDs. The new CD is a step in the right direction and comes back to sounding similar to the first 2 CDs but is still not as good.
The new albums are way too soft, i bet thats why he left, mark chavez's voice was awesome...i wonder if he moved to another band?
actually nat, im gonna have to disagree. I really do like the new album, but the true sound of adema echoes off the first album. Mark Chavez's voice no where compares to Bobbys.
but, i hope they keep going |
