The Advantage
Biography
Named after a Nintendo controller, the Advantage offered their own brand of specialized rock, playing covers of their favorite NES songs. The idea for the Advantage began in 1999 at a talent show in Nevada City, CA, when drummer Spencer Seim saw a two-person band perform video game songs. He joined the group immediately, and after the two founding members moved to Milwaukee, Seim added high-school friends and Generic bandmates Carson McWhirter, Ben Milner, and Nick Rogers on bass and guitars, respectively. Signed to Kill Rock Stars affiliate 5 Rue Christine, in 2004 the Advantage released their debut self-titled album, and two years later, after replacing Rogers with guitarist Robby Moncrieff, their second record, Elf Titled, came out. ~ Marisa Brown, All Music Guide

Wow, that's awesome. Imagine my surprise to hear video game music being played quite skillfully on pandora.

Eh? "..how familiar it still sounds.." ? I still play my NES games! Just beat my brother down on double dragon 1 not too long ago...Chin FTW! Man...I've been gaming a loooong time....
Meh, it's not bad, but there are much much more talented vgm bands out there, such as Armcannon (who aren't even on Pandora yet).
crazy cool, it was just a matter of time I guess, its amazing how familiar it still sounds

Black mages, minibosses, and the advantage, all win... black mages are my win though heehe ^^;
Anyone who can release TWO albums' worth of NES themes is clearly a geek of geeks... win.
Black mages, minibosses, the advantage, metroid metal, power glove, arm cannon, and QUARTER CIRCLE JAB FTW!!
Black mages, minibosses, the advantage, metroid metal, power glove, arm cannon, oh and misfits for old movie reference songs. but the other bands are soley for video game remixes/cove r s
'Check out The Black Mages. Nobuo Uematsu who composed the Final Fantasy series has formed a rock band. And it is good.

My inner gamer is SQUEALING. This is so cool XD I can't believe how cool it is to have video game music on here :) Now I can listen to it at work and reminisce.
of course the world is going to hell, that's why it's so fun! nothing wrong with game music, and maybe someone should do old t.v. themes, commercial jingles, and bad horror movie soundtracks. at least it would be original. and who doesn't want a metal version of the coppertone jingle?
lol you can tell who and who doesnt play video games (I bet bromdie1 doesnt)
Another good NES cover band is "Neskimoes" but unfortunatel y , Pandora does NOT have them. They have a more metal sound.

The world's going to hell, and negative people like bromide01 are driving the bus. Seriously, what's so bad about covers of great video game music?
I'd rather listen to some Megaman than your pretentious indie bullcrap, bromide.
Don't hate on the covers of good NES games.
You must've had a poor childhood bromide, if you can't enjoy the nostalgia. (the band name your searching for is Minibosses, and their album, Brass) |
Come on. There's some other band on here doing covers of video game songs. It's ridiculous. I mean really stupid. I guess if you have some kind of nostalgia for that sort of thing, but what's the point. How about covers of old commercials' music. Maybe soundtracks from bad horror movies. How about covers of TV theme show songs? Awesome! The world is going to hell.
