The Afters
Biography
Formed in 2000 by four Starbucks employees in Mesquite, TX, the Afters are an alternative CCM rock outfit originally known as Blisse. Under their original moniker, members Marc Dodd (drums), Matt Fuqua (guitar and vocals), Josh Havens (vocals and guitar), and Brad Wigg (bass and vocals) released an EP and an album (2001's When the World Is Wonderful) before finding out that there was another Blisse out there, and subsequently changed their name to the Afters. After making a name for themselves in the Dallas music scene, the Afters scored a deal with Epic and released their major-label debut in 2005, entitled I Wish We All Could Win. The album was a hit on the Christian charts, making it to the Top 25. In 2006, the band went back into the studio to record its follow-up, Never Going Back to OK, which was slated for release in February of 2008. ~ Chris True, All Music Guide

Great band- I wish they had more CD's 'cause I'm hooked.

It's hilarious that they met at Starbucks.
I want to make a band with friends I meet at work. That would be awesome. |
It doesn't mention that they are part of INO Records now. Hmmm...... I love them btw. lol. Got to meet them all twice, and introduce them at a concert. Best experience of my life. :)

I just heard their song 'After Summer'
it was...incred i b l e - I didn't know The Afters had that kind of vocal potential and vulnerabilit y . Very well done. |

Yeah this band is really impressive. Unfortunatel y ,it is true that labeling yourself as a CCM band DOES turn people off. It makes people think of these creepy, cringe-causi n g g , cliche country ballads when people think Christian music (that example in Southpark anyone?). It doesn't have to be that way. Even for a person of faith like me, I wouldn't write something that was very obvious because people will turn away.
Family Force 5 anyway? I would have never know they were a Christian... |

YES I SO AGREE WITH THE LAST COMMENT REALLY COOL, AND GO STARBUCKS

oh my goodness. neww awesome faovrite band???!!! not as awesome as all time low. but THEYRE OFF THE CHAIN! |
I'm just going to say that I listened to one track and didn't feel that I was being smacked over the head with The Bible or a crucifix, which might allay anybody's fear that this is a CCM band. Whether they get preachy on other tracks, well, I dunno...

i like the chords and the singers voice. amazing this came from 4 starbucks employees!

@alexander:
I agree, I think labeling everything CCM is a turn off for a lot of people unfortunatel y . I love Mute Math because they're obviously Christian but refused to be labeled CCM. More bands should do that to spread their music! |
I love this band i bought the Never Going Back To Okay CD and love it!!! my faves are myspace girl, never going back to okay, and ocean wide. :P
I'd like these guys a lot more if they dropped the whole CCM thing...They ' d probably get wider recognition too.
You are my favourite band easily, your songs are inspirationa l and I can easily believe that is what god intended for you to do
i love their songs. and they have a great sound.
to kcl3, their song 'myspace girl' is not to gain any attention, it was written for their friend who met his wife through myspace! so, the song kinda had to be called myspace girl... x) and to amanda conley im really glad they didnt stay at starbucks, because they make great christian music! dont hate, appreciate! all i have to say is that they are a great band! (x even if i had a huge comment. x) |
