I immediately knew it was Morphine. I prefer to think of them as "Morphine Transmogrifi e d " and I am delighted with the smoky female voice replacing the Sandman (although not with his absence, per se). What a great feel. Just drew me right in to the music . . . mmmmmmm.

I have to say I'm a little preturbed that it sounds EXACTLY like Morphine...u n l e s s it's BOTH the other guys from the band w/ just a different singer to replace Mark Sandman...ot h e r w i s e it's a complete rip off...
Oh, so it's Morphine's saxaphone player. Okay, that makes sense, thanks for the post. I will have to tell my boyfriend about this band, he's a Morphine addict.
It kinda is Morphine. This is Dana Colley's (the sax player from Morphine)new band
Is it me or does this sound like The Cult Morphine and Alice and chains wrapped up in one package
Heck yeah I have never heard of this bad!!! Thank you Pandora!!! It is not morphine but then again nothing will ever be like that again, but boy is this good!!!!
Did these guys make their own 2 string, slide bass also? I like that sound.
nuthin but good people do'in what good people did and will always do.
I just realized I have like 7 songs of this one cd thumbs upped on my Radio Chillage station. Cheer You On is my favorite tune of thiers for the moment
so do they tour who are they according to pandora we will never know and by the way sandman is not dead he is chillin with tupac. he told me
FYI, the Twinemen also followed Sandman's death with some of the same key players...
I can't rag on anyone for sounding like morphine and sandman. The world needs more of this style. Check out my Radio Chillage station on my profile. This whole Jazz/Trip Hop/Whatever the hell it so needs to keep growing
Can you rip off your own sound? I can't believe Dana Colley is trying to sound like Dana Colley, what gall! A true artist makes their instrument resonate with a voice as identifiable as a sonic fingerprint. As central as Mark Sandman was to Morphine, he did not play alone. I for one am glad to hear the music go on, or maybe Colley and Conway should have sealed themselves in Sandman's tomb...
it is the same singer as Bourbon princess...i think ortiz came to boston on sandman's suggestion.. . B o u r b o n also had original morphine drummer jerome dupree...
This is the sound I've tuned my Morphine based channel Radio Chillage towards.
Sorry, its just too close -- almost like they're ripping off their sound. C'mon, bass, sax, and drums? I'd like them better if they weren't trying to carbon-coby what was a great, unique sound -- the first time around.
Ha ha, I came to this page to see if they were made up of some of the Morphine guys but you guys beat me to it.
Exactly. Very Morphine-esq u e . I wonder why Morphine is not one of the listed "Similar Artists."
I want to love them for picking up where Morphine left off... but I can't... Morphine's haunting sound and the untimely death of Mark Sandman make it legendary and although this band is comprised of phenomenal musicians I just don't feel that haunt in my soul...
At first I thought this was a long lost Morphine song. Made me miss the band.
I bought this albulm and the whole damn thing is good. The Dana Colley's sax plus the deep smoky vocals from Ortiz: fantastic. The lyrics are wry and darkly surreptitiou s . Complimentin g the whole sound I think is Dersch's jazzy top work and deep tom bottom.. A new incarnation of low-rock at it's finest!
This is one smooth sound. Love the Morphine sound. Hope they make it to North Carolina..
Yes, it is the same singer I believe. Monique is her name and the gentlemen playing the sax is the same guy fromMorphine . There from the Boston area and they play often in Cambridge Mass. But I've also seen on their myspace page that they been doing quite a bit of touring in the Northeast in general.
