All That Remains
Biography
Formed by guitarist Oli Herbert and ex-Shadows Fall vocalist Phil Labonte in 1998, Massachusetts' All That Remains debuted in 2002 with Behind Silence and Solitude on Metal Blade. Rounded out by drummer Michael Bartlett, guitarist Chris Bartlett, and bassist Danny Egan, the record first showcased the band's blistering and heavy take on melodically infused hardcore death metal. All That Remains went through some lineup changes, and guitarist Mike Martin was added in for their 2004 breakthrough on Prosthetic Records, This Darkened Heart. Produced by Killswitch Engage's Adam Dutkiewicz and released to rave reviews, the record landed All That Remains on various shows and tours with the likes of GWAR, the Crown, Arch Enemy, Darkest Hour, and more. They continued touring nonstop behind Heart, taking a break only in late 2005 to begin writing new material for their third full-length. Working again with Dutkiewicz and Prosthetic, the band recorded The Fall of Ideals, which appeared in July 2006. By this time, the group was comprised of Labonte, Herbert, Martin, drummer Shannon Lucas, and bassist Jeanne Sagan. All That Remains hit the road once again, spending time on the European leg of the Sounds of the Underground tour and the summer's Ozzfest. Nationwide headlining dates were completed that fall. ~ Corey Apar, All Music Guide

A solid band, they dont suck i mean their guitarists are pritty damn good and the drummer has a double pedal unlike anyother iv herd in this softer type of metal. They are good musicians its just their style of writing that i dnt like in most of their songs. Especialy in that new album they just made that was gay.

They sound a lot like Shadows Fall...but their singer came from Shadows Fall and Oli learned from Shadows Fall...They took the best and made it better...
AILD is good, this band is trying to be like them, but they can't pull it off, cuz they suck.
I have seen ATR in concert 3 times now and they are kickass live and recorded. All their albums are awesome :)
I only like behind silence and solitude, the rest is a bit too polished for my tastes. Sick musicianship on every album though.
these guys are almost indistinguis h a b l e from Parkway Drive, which kind of bothers me.
somebody needs to hook moomoo and willow up. lol and this band is way better than godsmack. yellow card is better than godsmack! lol
@mikeviney
HAVE You even LISTENED to AILD? You have no clue what you are talking about. But yeah, ABR is kick a**. |
screaming nonsense is when you cant understand a psycopath this is like an angel screaming to quote the game brutal legend for that guy at the bottom
Amazing band. Saw the video for Two Weeks on Headbanger's Ball, great video.
A good band, but not as awesome as they used to be for me. They used to melt my face, back when I was still under the impression that these guys were the alpha and omega of awesome metal. They are still good, but nothing compared to the Black metal bands out of the Great Black North.
saw them last night, getting my hearing back slowly.
They were pretty good, Lacuna Coil was there, too, and I think they outperformed ATR. All of their songs seemed to run together a bit... and their amps were a bit too loud and distorted the sound. But I still enjoyed them a lot. They had a great stage presence, running all over the place. Phil Labonte had fun with the audience. :) |
Godsmack isn't bad, it just depends on what you like and what songs you listen to. Wait, isn't this ATR's page?

this band is terrible and so are all the bands in the similar artist list. booooooooo!!
Gag me with a spoon - I'm not sure why Pandora thinks I might like these guys, or ANY of the similar acts, but I'm at least taking great pleasure in thumbing them down so I never ever hear from them again.
Good riddance to screaming nonsense. |
I do not like this band either, and somehow they keep doing the same thing as 99 cent Whore's. It's getting on my last nerve!
They keep creeping into my Slayer and Thrash stations but I hate them. The vocalists needs a new gig, you follow me?
why would someone who listens to country and regular rock even have to have an opinion at all on ATR? This is a good CD but I think they needed to keep with the Fall of Ideals style. That album owns this one and everything else done by ATR IMHO
@vdecker: I have to concur with your statement. This band is looking for $ signs all over. The music is full of pop breakdowns which are aimed at radio play. Sad too, because they sound decent otherwise.
what they believe. looks like it cut me off!! too long of a message i guess.
i hate to say it, but i think they are tasting the money too much now. overcome is ok, but its such a sell out album for me. the weak willed is the best s**t ive heard from em, and fall of ideals is their best for that reason. they are soft enough for radio now, i cant dig it enough. listen to between the buried and me, all shall perish, glass casket, protest the hero, abigail williams or the like because these guys are never going to sell out and theyre always going to keep to brutality and

These dudes rock! Every album kick @$$! They also tear it up on stage; I have seen them twice.
