Biography
Alter Bridge resurrected the music-making portion of Creed. After that band's 2004 dissolution, guitarist Mark Tremonti and drummer Scott Phillips tapped ousted bassist Brian Marshall for the new project. Ex-Mayfield Four frontman Myles Kennedy was soon on board as well, and Alter Bridge made their Wind-Up debut in August 2004 with One Day Remains. Written largely by Tremonti, the record tried to lean more toward a hard rock/metal sound than the post-grunge grandstanding of his previous group. After touring the world to support the album, the band decided to leave Wind-Up and sign with the Universal imprint Republic. In late 2007 the label released Blackbird, an album that featured more songwriting contributions from Kennedy. ~ Johnny Loftus, All Music Guide

Scott Stapp single handedly ruined Creed for me.

I like the feel of both bands. Creed was prone to the understated and Alter Bridge is typical rock with a cool vocal and Guitar solos. In my opinion AB is forgetable. Creed is not! Very unique song styling, great vocals, understated instrumental s . Creed had the ability to take you through an emotion much like other great bands.(Floyd , Bruce, and others) Just like you couldn't hear Steve Perry and not think Journey, you can't hear Creed and not think Scott Stapp.

I'm glad they mended ways with Scott and are now back as Creed. (sorry for the lead vocalist ).... no match...

Love the guitar in this...also vocals are stronger than creed in my opinion. Found this band a couple of years on the old music match jukebox...th a n k s music match rest in peace

That's exactly what I was saying. It seems like Tremonti has 1 or 2 guitar solos in EVERY (yes I mean every) AB song, whereas in Creed, you'd barely find any solos, and if you did, they were rarely really difficult, catchy or good (the exception to that might be "Bullets")

AB is awesome great musicianship and music. I hope the creed album is similar to AB it might be if tremonti is given more creative freedom. ABIII will be great

Tremonti has commented himself that Creed's reunion is not the end of AB. They're actually working on a new album right now. Expect to see it in 2010.

It better not be the end of Alter Bridge. I'm going to be seriously pissed if that happens. Even if it turns out like that, at least I can look forward Myles Kennedy in his solo career. That should be great. Creed should be locked away with the key disintegrate d . I will have it no other way.

I agree we need to spread the word about Alter Bridge. When Daughtry's music came out and got so popular, I was saying to myself. "Hey Alter Bridge has a similar formula and is just as good if not better than Daughtry. They should be getting a piece of that fame." Nothing against Chris Daughtry, great vocalist and I wish him the best but I don't like how they are insanely popular over Alter Bridge.

I agree no one seems to know who these guys are. Coming from and "old school" rock guy, they are one of THE best bands to imerge in many years. Song writing musicianship and over all message put them light years ahead of whats being spoon fed to us on local radio. Just my simple thoughts.

I can't beleive not many people noticed Creed's triplets had joined together with Kennedy. I ask people if they have heard of Alter Bridge, "no" if they have heard of Creed "yes". I have also heard people that think Creed are still on the road. We need to spread the word of AB. TREMONTI 4-EVA

Alterbridge is awesome, one of the few bands out there that are BETTER live! I've seen them twice, once for each albums tour and they are the best. Miles has an awesome voice and Mark is the best lead guitar out there! Can't wait for their next album (if Myles doesn't go on tour with Led Zepplin as further proof of his awesomeness! LOL)

if you listen to the 2nd album, blackbird.. there isnt any sign of a "power ballad" singer.. scottrose3 is totally off with that stereotype of Myles Kennedy. if anything, myles is a traditional rock singer with the range and frequency he can hit with his voice.. i would like dave grohl to try to sing and play the guitar like he does.. on top of the amazing vocals, you have one of the best guitar players around writing and playing these songs.. you might find only a few guitarists better than tre

I remember when I first got into alter bridge. The first song I listened to was "Ties that Bind" and I was immediately hooked on their music. I knew I had to buy the "Blackbird" album at that moment. They are one of a kind in their genre. I'm surprised their not universally well known right now.
