Anderson, Bruford, Wakeman, Howe
Biography
The group Yes has had a long and complicated history. By 1989, there were two different factions, one led by bassist Chris Squire that owned the rights to the name "Yes," and this one, featuring singer Jon Anderson, drummer Bill Bruford, keyboard player Rick Wakeman, and guitarist Steve Howe. This quartet made an album, titled Anderson Bruford Wakeman Howe, and went on the road playing what it called "An Evening of Yes Music, Plus," which occasioned a lawsuit. Finally, all was resolved, and the next version of Yes was a mega-edition featuring eight members, who made the album Union. ~ William Ruhlmann, All Music Guide
Selected Discography
The one thing about this Group is they had Bill Bruford who was the best Yes Drummer BARE NONE

To me, Yes needed Chris, Jon, and Steve, and that was the core musical talent right there. But you know what was awful? Union. I guess some people (ahem, cough, Trevor Rabin, cough) just fail at life.

Yes = Chris Squire and Jon Anderson playing in the same band together. My two cents.

Yes is not anyone of the members. Look at Asia GTR and the solo albums all missing something

The group hinges on Rick Wakeman. In every song, he just seems to bring everyone together. Regardless of who else is playing the guitar. But Yes is nothing without Jon Anderson and we will all miss him during the tour this year.

Its clear that while this group was capable, without Chris Squire,
most of the energy, growl, killer riffs, and of course harmonies are missing. It was fortunate they re-banded. |

seen these guys 25 times this was the best...one of my sons favorite too..

Saw them when they added Squire and Kaye and toured as Yes. One of my favorite shows. Awaken was awesome.

I liked it very much so. If my choice is part of the band or nothing I want to hear something new. I don't have to listen to it if I don't like it.

Its Yes With Tony Levin On Bass and Stick. Squire was one of my childhood heroes . Tony Levin is my Old age hero.Saw the ABWH concert at Great Woods,in MA. What a trip seeing Tony Levin play Heart of The Sunrise with the FUNK FINGERS.

Actually it does. If you pay top bucks to see Yes and all you're getting is Squire and a bunch of other guys you don't know. I've seen Yes twice, both with the early-mid seventies line-up... they were quite impressive.

whoever made up the band, it doesn't really matter. if your a fan of yes, then you appreciate all the songs they did. they are one of music history's greatest musical talents.

I didn't know that bit of Yes history mentioned in the above biography.
So Squire owned the band's name? To me that really means that in that time period, if one were to go to a Yes concert, they really wouldn't see Yes at all. But if they were to attend an A,B,W,H concert, they would really be experiencing the real Yes. I don't mean this as a put-down to Squire, but the reality of it is that Anderson is the only member of Yes who could pull-off a lone departure, including the name! |

Hey Pandora - there are no "Similar Artists" to YES ( OK - 'mostly, Yes' ) - to name these weaklings ( cutting crew ?? , simple kid ?? ) as "similar" is an insult to one of rock's greatest groups of all time.
