this is the first time i've heard of this group and i do appreciate some other listeners posting information about them, considering pandora had no group info like they usually do. very interesting. so aurra was like a side project by some of the members of slave OR was it the group that the remaining members of slave made once slave broke up?

zapp, roger, lakeside, isley bros. can't think of 1 more. i love this. good, no, great music & memories.

Later Aurra changed their name to Deja - great stuff - new female vocalist named Mysti Day from Texas. Curt and Starlena hail from New Jersey.
Members from Slave formed Aurra with Curt Jones singing lead and playing lead guitar - also did just about all of the writing for the group. Go to Facebook, or CDbaby.com or My Space/CurtJo n e s music for his new cd "Curt Jones 360 Degrees". Great cd!! Starlena Young is the female vocalist -- go to Youtube and see videos of Aurra performing.

Monica Montez dancing and teasing us at a Pius X High School dance to "Are you single" back in 1982...like it was yesterday!
was not aware of the 'slave' association. didn't think slave had a female vocalist. aurra's singer kind of sounds like sos'. any association there?
Starleana and Curt were members of Slave and left the group with Steve Washington and eventually became - Aurra. Hear the Slave riffs. Changed name of team and became Deja. How the funk evolves.
one of the best old school funky base lines. Are they associated with Slave? They also have a big hit the single "are you single"
That's what I was looking for, Slave! However I do remember Aurra. Like you said, still funky!!!!!!! ! ! !
