Band Of Horses
Biography
Emerging in 2004 with a woodsy blend of midtempo rock and reverb-laden vocals, Band of Horses quickly gained an audience in their native Northwest before Everything All the Time made them indie rock darlings. Multi-instrumentalists Ben Bridwell and Mat Brooke founded the group after an eight-year run with Carissa's Wierd, and an early performance alongside future labelmates Iron & Wine caught the attention of Sub Pop Records. The Seattle-based label signed the group in 2005 and reissued their self-released EP later that year, while Band of Horses retreated to the studio to record their full-length debut. Everything All the Time emerged in March 2006 and was warmly received; however, Brooke did not tour in support of the album and had officially left the group by July, choosing instead to devote his time to another Sub Pop act, Grand Archives. Nevertheless, Bridwell solidiered on with now-permanent bandmates Rob Hampton (bass) and Creighton Barrett (drums), playing stateside shows and touring Europe in support of the band's debut. The group returned to the States and relocated to Mt. Pleasant, SC, to be closer to their families; soon after, Band of Horses entered the studio with producer Phil Ek (who also helmed Everything All the Time) to record their sophomore album. Cease to Begin was released in October 2007, and the band set off on another stateside tour that same month. ~ Andrew Leahey, All Music Guide

If you can't understand what the below comment is saying, Corbettorama would like to say "It bothers me how the singer adds syllables to words."
"Eeyit" bothers me how "theeyis" singer "ayadds" syllables to words.

GREAT BAND. WAY BETTER THAN DEATH CAB FOR CUTIE or COLDPLAY. GET OVER IT.
BOH is awesome, I love their sound...very moving in an understated way. My fave song by them is The Great Salt Lake
It's ok, but reading everyone's comments is funny. "woodsy folk", melodic, ............ j u s t too funny. you crazy critics.
This is the first time I have heard of this band and this song is very melodic to me. I like it a lot.
If you like Band of Horses, check out Midlake. They have that same "woodsy folk" sound in their album "Trials of Van Occupanther. "

my friend introduced me to band of horses in 2007 when their new album cease to begin came out. the first song i ever heard was "islands on the coast." i've been listening to them ever since. recently i saw them in concert and they rocked it completely! they have the best stage presence and great music...by all means, just real talent (:
They listed Explosions In The Sky as a similar band... That's not even close :/
Good band, though. |

Ryan Adams is the king of this style of music. These guys are ok for a way overhyped pacific northwest music scene that wallows in arrogance as well as boredom.
I love these guys. I'll be seeing them on Friday at the HOB and I'm very excited to see them live.
I just recently heard of this band...I like them a lot, and I LOVE this song!

I've never listened to The Shins, but the singer and band reminds of Marcy Playground. Great sound, I'm digging them.
Very nice sound, Pandora seems to provide a great variety at times, I find it amazing how much the name of this band fits their music and look
They sound a bit too much like the Shins. I like some of their songs though.
"Our Swords" could easily be a Flaming Lips song...sound s exactly like Flaming Lips.
