BarlowGirl
Biography
After practicing, writing, and performing for a few years, the self-described "radical girls for God" found themselves at a festival with fellow Christian rockers Superchic[k]. The latter took a liking to the up-and-comers, even penning a song about them, helping BarlowGirl off of the side stages and into the spotlight. With a solid grassroots campaign and a single that gained momentum on Christian Hit Radio, it looked like their faith paid off. Their eponymous debut was produced by Otto Price (dc Talk) and released on Fervent Records on February 24, 2004. Another Journal Entry arrived a year later, followed by How Can We Be Silent in 2007 and Love & War in 2009. ~ James Christopher Monger, All Music Guide

I'm an atheist, and I recently discovered BarlowGirl.. . l o v e l y voice and sound. It's sort of irrelevant to me what their religion is...If I stopped listening to religious music, I'd miss out on some beautiful work (no more Bach, for instance...)

I love the music but thier concerts are never local. Always in anoter state!
|

out of tons of christian artists barlow girl has all the edge I would want!!!

I am agnostic and just so happen to love many christian artists.Thei r songs are usually very beautiful and have a wonderful message. Also you can interpret music however you want,it will always mean something different to everyone.I do think its funny though that many people on here cant realize that their comments are judgmental.M a n y Christians need to understand that their "truth" is not everyone's truth and that their "truth" cannot even be factually proven.

Bayonette, folks often get offended when their conscience(o u r holy spirit alley) is working against them "via" conviction & guilt. These folks often wrestle with & lash out in Anger & Accusation as a result. A "defense mechanism" which kicks in when one rejects the truth of the gospel(justi f i c a t i o n ) . The Sharer is called judgmental or preachy when evangelizing ( s h a r i n g faith). A normal reaction for most upon realizing a bankrupt spirituality . Plant the seeds lovingly anyway.

I just don't understand why some people dislike Christian music for its message alone. Most music carries a message overt or subtle, but what is there to find offensive in the genuine message of Christianity ? I have heard people accuse Christians of being self-righteo u s , "preachy", hypocrites; but I have yet to hear a single one of these so-called condemning songs. The message of purity and righteousnes s is not an accusation against sinners, but rather encouragemen t to believers to take a stand

Paint me in the opposite side of the ring to most of the commentary here. Great harmonics, nice balance between the melodic and rougher guitar riffs...but the religious themes seem to steer the Pandora playlist machine into other musical options with similar ideological overtones (rather than relying just on musical traits). In any event, though, good stuff.
