Battles
Biography
Battles is a quartet comprised of drummer John Stanier of Helmet and Tomahawk, guitarist/keyboardist Ian Williams of Don Caballero and Storm & Stress, guitarist David Konopka of Lynx, and avant solo musician Tyondai Braxton. All members bring their honed-in angular math skills of past glory to Battles. The Tras and EP C EPs were both released in June 2004 on Cold Sweat and Monitor respectively. The B EP followed on Dim Mak in September 2004. The Atlas EP followed in early 2007, followed in turn by the band's proper full-length debut, Mirrored, in May 2007. ~ David Serra, All Music Guide
Something about battles just prevents me from getting into them. They are extremely amazing musicians, I wouldn't dare take that away from them..But I just can't get into it.

I like Radiohead and Battles, but similar...no . King Krimson is more similar to Battles than Radiohead.

Way to substantiate your argument, blondles1. You make your point emphatically and vulgarly, therefore it must be true?

You must be f**king crazy pccstudio. Battles is the s**t, you don't know what the hell your talking about. I wish there were more bands out there that were as creative as Battles.

having a hard time getting excited about battles. I really want to, but so far, it's pretty meh.
It should be better |
yeah...the first few battles ep's were great. i saw them play in a few basements in new york city years ago. the full length was really dissapointin g .
ian williamson was better off with don cab...americ a n don was an incredible album, without which battle would have never happened. unfortunatel y don cab is still touring, but they've reverting back to their early metal days. |
If early Don Cab still blows your mind then you are clinging on to dated music and not paying attention to this important and amazing band.
this is a pretty cool band but if it blows your mind than you haven't heard much music
and i still say early Don Cab > Battles |
I hope they get extremely popular. It will give me back faith in popular music.

Saw these guys live, they kick so much a**. Their drummer is like the second coming of Keith Moon and he plays a really f**king high symbol. Battles is really f**king amazing, if you havent seen them live, do it! You will have your mind blown off of it's hinges by the sheer power and complexity of the music. They are the gods of math rawk, they are the f**king gods of math rock!
