Behemoth
Biography
Considered to be one of the leading death metal bands to emerge from Poland in the 1990s, Behemoth have endured quite a few lineup shifts during their career (especially in the bass department), with founding singer/guitarist Nergal being the only constant member. Behemoth were formed during 1991 (originally as a trio), and began issuing several demos shortly thereafter, the most circulated one being 1993's From the Pagan Vastlands. The same year, Behemoth issued their debut release (via the Italian independent record label Entropy), And the Forests Dream Eternally. Two years later, the group released its first full-length recording, Sventevith, which received favorable reviews by the metal underground press. For 1996's Grom, Behemoth widened their musical vision by experimenting with acoustic guitars, synthesizers, and female vocalists, but all the while retained their brutal, extreme metal sound, leading to the group's inaugural full-on tour of Europe. Released in 1997, the three-track stopgap EP Bewitching the Pomerania proved to be the first recording to feature drummer Inferno, who would soon become a driving force (and permanent fixture) in Behemoth.
Their fifth release overall, Pandemonic Incantations, was issued a year later in 1998, as Behemoth continued to average at least one lineup change per release. Behemoth's last release as a trio (and first for new label Avantgarde), 1999's Satanica, continued to expand the group's following among the black metal masses, as Behemoth secured supporting slots on two separate tours with leading bands of the genre: Deicide and Satyricon. Behemoth's first release of the 21st century, 2000's Thelema.6, saw the group's lineup expand to four members for the first time, as newcomers Novy (bass) and Havoc (guitar) signed on with stalwarts Nergal and Inferno. The album proved to be the first of the group's career to receive worldwide distribution (issued in the U.S. a year after its initial release), and also featured Nergal collaborating lyrically with outsider Krzysztof Azarewicz. Behemoth embarked on their most substantial tour yet, playing shows alongside the likes of Morbid Angel and Nile, and even launched a few headlining tours on their own. In 2002, a home video/DVD was issued (recorded in their homeland of Poland), The Art of Rebellion: Live. Zos Kia Cultus followed a year later and was supported by a world tour including, for the first time, the United States. Demigod landed at the beginning of 2005, with The Apostasy arriving in 2007. Ezkaton was an EP released in 2008, and featured a handful of studio cuts along with some live tracks. It was followed in 2009 by the full-length Evangelion. ~ Greg Prato, All Music Guide

Godsmack isn't metal.
It's easy to see that if someone puts the words godsmack and metal in a positive sentence. They are retarded. |
What is up with all of these people talking about Godsmack as a "real metal band" on all of the comment lists for the REAL real metal bands? It is getting so annoying....
Godsmack sucks anyway. |
these guys were good before they went into the metal mainstream with with job for a cowboy
These Guys are so F$%king badass just seen them at Mayhem music fest!!
if you get a chance to go GO!!!!! |
Get the f**k off this page willow... This is more metal than s**tty godsmack a**hole
Behemoth is such an amazing band. The only thing I don't like about them is that Nergal has a really deep Polish accent when he sings in English.
To anyone commenting on the recording quality of Behemoth's album among other overlooked gems... Bands like this put alot of emphasis on live shows. Go see 'em live!!!
Amazing doesn't begin to describe them. I concur. Slaves SHALL f*cking serve.
(lol that sounds pretty racist. oops:) |
Awesome band, except for the fact that they think "Satanica", "Chaotica" and "Demonica" are good names for albums. Also, "Pandemonic" isn't a word and forests don't dream. But really, they're a great band.

I know everyone is entitled to opinions but I love every single album by Behemoth. Their early black metal and their new blackened death metal sound. I heard some of their new album and I can't wait for it's release.
Besides, Inferno is one of my idol drummers. So technical, so fast and precise. How common is that? |
For me, they post up there with Nile. Saw them on September in 2007 at the House of blues in Los Angeles and they blasted the f**k out of everyone there. Bad a** Show! I was sore from the pit for at least a week. Brutal sound, have to love it.
i too met them at second stage ozzfest... 2007 they were pretty cool, and my ears bled :P
In my opinion one of the best bands of all time. I have seen them open for Danzig and also 2nd stage at Ozzfest. Both times they kicked a** and i got to meet them once. Suprisingly nice guys as well. All you haters need to shove hot pokers in your eye sockets.
U know what's gay? Douchebags who think that Godsmack even comes close to the utter badassness of bands like Mayhem and Immortal! Go back to listening to MARIAH CAREY and LEAVE US THE F*CK ALONE!
kamronkhan.. . t h e i r albums are intentionall y made that way. Dumbass. Behemoth is deffinately one of my favorite bands, and I can appreciate their recordings being kept to the nature of "the old metal days". If theirs one thing I can't stand it's studio produced bands that sound like s**t when they play life....keep it real.
Very very very sad not to have seen them at Ozzfest. These guys can play their stuff. Yes their live shows seem to be top notch and sounds worth it to see them play. My hope is that Pandora will get their new "album" up soon. Chant for Ezkaton is epic...
good band but albums lack production value. They still sound like they are recording in someones garage in 2008. wtf?
