The Birthday Massacre
Biography
New wave revival outfit the Birthday Massacre formed in London, Ontario, in 2000 -- originally dubbed Imagica, the founding lineup was comprised of frontwoman Chibi, guitarists Rainbow and M. Falcore, bassist Aslan, keyboardist Dank, and percussionist O.E. After recording a seven-song demo session, Dank left Imagica and the remaining members relocated to Toronto, where a second demo release followed in mid-2001. Upon renaming itself the Birthday Massacre, the group released its debut LP, Nothing & Nowhere, in the summer of 2002. With the resignation of O.E., the lineup welcomed keyboardist Adm and percussionist Rhim prior to recording a follow-up EP, 2004's Violet. Adm quit the Birthday Massacre prior to an expanded European release of Violet on the German label Repo -- in 2005, the band signed to the Metropolis imprint to issue the disc in North America and the U.K., adding keyboardist O-en for a tour of Western Europe. ~ Jason Ankeny, All Music Guide

don't worry, angel. I don't bother listening to Willow anyway. he's an attention whore.
and yes, we should all be hear to listen to great music, no matter what it is. |
ima go ahead and declare this the pandora regulars thread from here on out. i'm on here too damn much, fangirl is all over the place, angel throws bricks on here every now and then, and even willow comes by for some troll practice now and again.
come one, come all! we have cookies. |
and i know fangirl can fight her own fight without my help-but why does she have to go through that ? isn't there enough crueltry in the world already ? does it have to be on a music station ? didn't we come here to listen to some great music and escape from all of this crap ?
and i want the dialogue about fat girls to end between willow and fangirl after this comment is finished.i don't care if willow has been banned-i don't fink on people but i know willow and fangirl respect me enough to stop it.of course this starts with willow and then fangirl ignores him forever.i've made it my fight.
i sort of don't let willow get to me-he was the only one who welcomed me back when i returned from my vacation but he would never dream of saying those comments about fat girls around me.i'm a street outreach worker,i've been threatened,w o u n d e d , a n d not for one second do i have any fear when i'm in a unruly camp alone.i just don't.

I'd heard the name before but today was the first time this has played on my station - turns out I quite like it. Reminds me more of trip-hop than Lacuna Coil or Within Temptation though, but I'm not the one who makes those musical links, heh!
God I love this girls voice. Much better than lacuna coil or nightwish, just my opinion tho...
I get the point, Plague! lol
I could totally see myself listening to this, but only if I wasn't actually paying attention. Unfortunatel y , I am paying attention. Therefore, thumbs down.
why is Apocalyptica here?
as much as I enjoy their music sometimes, that's worse than the gothic metal being here. |

Oh, and you have your info about the band members wrong, pandora. Way to go.
Why the f**k are Lacuna Coil and WT listed as similar and coming up when I seed a station with TBM? I'd like my gothy dance rock and my straight up rock kept separate, thanks.
Just don't mislabel. These guys are about as much goth as they are country. They're a true synthrock band. Nothing more, nothing less.
Yay! I've heard a few songs by them that I fell in love with, but I've never heard their name until now. And seriously, who cares what genre they belong to?
screw the semantics of different genres if their heart was in it when they made it and your heart is in it when you hear it take it home and wear it out.

agreed, Max.
sometimes the topic of genres annoy the crap out of me, but that doesn't stop me from liking music. |
on an up note, thank you for the clarificatio n as to what specifically goth is. should the question ever be raised, i will know where to point an inquiring mind.
you misunderstoo d my comment, i think.
my point wasnt to call this band goth or emo or whatever.. my point was to pretty much tell willow that we really dont care about the bile he spews. are they emo-goth? i dont know. i'm not a music critic. hell, i'm barely even a musician. is any of that the point? no. to condense: do i like the band? yes. do i know, or care, what type of music it is, beyond listenable? no. do i want willow to get off pandora once and for all? yes. |
And it's a good thing though, Vash. I'm glad you addressed "goth" music and put it in it's place once and for all. :)
I'm tired of almost anything being called "goth" when it's not. TBM might have a slight influence, but not enough to get the title. |
Not to mention much of the lyrics and Chibi's upbeat pitch in vox and what the instruments are tuned to. Out of any of the genres that they've ever been lumped into, Synthrock would make the most sense. I dunno, they really have an original sound which is not easy to accomplish these days, or even for the past 10-12 years. Hmm, maybe I'm the only one that knows what he's talking about hahaha.
I don't see the resemblance to Zeromancer at all. And just because they have creative artwork and whatnot doesn't make them goth. You kids these days- you throw labels and misrepresent a t i o n s around like it's nothing. You've watered down all the terminologie s to the point where someone would call the Cure, the Sisters of Mercy and Marilyn Manson all the same. TSOM and the Cure are TRUE goth bands, but I would NOT consider TBM goth rock. Listen to TSOM and the Cure and you'll know what I mean.
Following in Zeromancers footsteps. It's alright but after listening to other quality genres you see this for what it is, music for junior high kids to rebel with.
nothing to do with self-mutilat i o n , actually. as for emo-goth - why yes, they are. if you dont like it, well, nobody's perfect.
go away, willow. the pandora community got tired of you years ago. |
no prob ;P It's just that every gothic/symph o n i c band is compared to WT and Nightwish
me too i was listening to evanescence and they played a song by them and it has been driving me crazy trying to find out who they are. I knew what the album walking with strangers looked like but didn't know the name until my genius on itunes recommended them. Thank you itunes.
no idea.
even if he was talking about me, I bet the first part of it is "Fat Girl" or "F**got Girl". |
"Blue" has gotten to be my favorite song by them.
last time I checked, it was Miley Cyrus at a party, Willow. and she was pole dancing.
