The Black Angels
Biography
The sultry neo-psychedelic sound of the Black Angels came together in spring 2004. Hailing from Austin, TX, Stephanie Bailey (drums), Christian Bland (guitar), Alex Maas (vocals), Jennifer Raines (organ), and Nathan Ryan (bass) took their name from a Velvet Underground classic, "The Black Angel's Death Song." The band's self-titled debut EP was released in late 2005. After a string of North American dates in winter 2006, the Black Angels readied themselves for a performance at the annual South by Southwest Music Conference in March. Their full-length album Passover hit stores that April. ~ MacKenzie Wilson, All Music Guide

So awesomely mellow. Driving while listening to the Black Angels is just so low-key great.

More ostentatious , over-rated cr@p from Austin. Good guitar, but otherwise unremarkable .

Saw them live at Webster Hall in NYC, they were excellent! Should have been the headliners, although the Raveonettes were good.
It's good, but why are they singing about Vietnam so much. They're taking the retro thing a little bit too far.
Yep, and people hated the Velvet Underground, the Pixies, and The Jesus and Mary Chain too. Everyone's a critic. I like it - it sticks with you.

I thought I was listening to a clinc side project...gu e s s i was wrong

Thank God for Pandora or I would never have discovered this amazing band. Saw them play this weekend...aw e s o m e ! ! !
vocalist reminds me of Jim Morrison of The Doors. Really like this band and glad to see that they're on pandora.
Yeah but ifg it wasn't for Pandora wouldn't have heard about them. Got here from a Jesus and March Chain theme. Awesome.
Passover is the best. Every song is great, seriously. Awesome band that should be getting more acclaim.
Saw them in Brooklyn last Saturday. Them blew my mind. It was beyond intense. I cant wait till they come back to the area

The black angels are nothing like BRMC, but they are friends, and refer to each other in thier liner notes. BRMC is more fusion rock, these guys are just psychedelic awesomeness.
Really reminiscent of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club . . . surprised they're not listed as a similar artist. Grinding in a satisfying way.
Yep great band, but pandora is choosing some pretty lame stuff that really doesn't relate to the black angels at all.
