Blind Guardian
Biography
Forming in the small German town of Krefeld, Blind Guardian perfected a fusion of Gothic- and fantasy-tinged European power metal with the velocity and technical precision of speed metal. Members Hansi Kürsch (vocals, bass), Marcus Siepen (guitar), André Olbrich (guitar), and Thomas Stauch (drums) initially called themselves Lucifer's Heritage, but elected to change when a 1986 demo tape began to achieve underground popularity. They signed with the No Remorse label and issued Battalions of Fear in 1988, following it with Follow the Blind a year later, which helped make a name for the band in Japan. 1990's Tales from the Twilight World became an underground hit in Germany and led to a deal with that country's division of Virgin Records; their major-label debut, Somewhere Far Beyond, was released in 1992. After 1993's live Tokyo Tales, Blind Guardian hooked up with former Metallica producer Flemming Rasmussen for 1995's Imaginations from the Other Side. 1996's The Forgotten Tales was a collection of covers and alternate versions, setting the stage for 1998's Nightfall in Middle-Earth, a Tolkien-inspired concept album which finally became the band's first American release a year later. Century Media began reissuing portions of the band's back catalog in the U.S. the same year. ~ Steve Huey, All Music Guide

I'm not the one who's so far away
When I feel the snake bite enter my veins. Never did I wanna be here again, And I don't remember why I came. Candles raise my desire, Why I'm so far away. No more meaning to my life, No more reason to stay. Freezing, feeling, Breathe in, breathe in... I'm coming back again... I'm not the one who's so far away When I feel the snake bite enter my veins. Never did I wanna be here again, And I don't remember why I came. |

Great band very interesting sound kinda reminds me of those dorky days of summer playing D&D
Blind Guardian's got a realllly good drummer!!!!! ! dont know why i just realized this!
i cant wait for the next album to come out soon. After twist in the myth i am excited to see what will come from them next.
Only thumb up the folk metal that is really folky. The first folk-metal station I made played a lot of BG too.
BG seems to come up a lot on my folk metal related stations. Not that I'm complaining. It's great stuff, but more folk metal would be nice.
Nightfall and A Twist in the Myth are both excellent, although the former is not as good as the latter.
A night at the opera is definately one ill have to get. as well as nightfall, twist in the myth, and imaginations from the other side. i wish i had more money.

Blind Guardian just came up on my station for the first time today, and I'm quite happy that they did. Yay!
I only buy music if the band deserves it. I've bought two Blind Guardian CDs.
why dont you put that on the godsmack page then, willow.,wher e people might actually care about how many albums it sold.
besides, it doesnt really matter how many albums were sold. what matters is the music. it could have sold zero albums, but if i like it, ill buy it! |
@TGS: As if I actually have the money for a bigger iPod. If I did, I would get a way bigger one.
Trying getting a bigger Ipod or switching to the new stylus Z5. Much better on quality too.
I hear you. I don't have much room on my iPod either, but I don't get new music much because I don't have any iTunes money and anything else save Amazon or Lou's Records is overpriced. Would love to own stuff by a bunch of different bands that I don't have, though!
i have the same problem, dont feel bad :p. im trying to save up for a new ipod, the one i have now ran out of room a loooong time ago, but i keep buying more music, so i never have the money. that and my parents keep borrowing money from me and taking forever to pay it back. meh.
I can't seem to stop myself...I really can't afford it...but the album...it was calling to me...
LOL |
@POU: Got it. Thanks. Good for you for picking up new music. I can't seem to do that much.
@LLM: That comment was aimed at a post by Willow that has since been deleted.
Also, I picked up A Twist In The Myth today, and it's excellent. |
Bite your tongue, fool. Blind Guardian is amazingly talented. Godsmack is but a pale shadow in comparison.
Interesting version of In-a-gadda-d a - v i d a on Fly, almost as good as the original.
@Roonil Wzalib: Not always. I've found real cheap stuff on amazon. Anyhow, what you have to do is go to the Apple website and go to iTunes and find the place for suggestions. They will try, that doesn't mean that they will get it.
iTunes has no AC/DC or early Sabbath. I have tons of stuff that iTunes doesn't! |
does anyone know how to suggest music to iTunes? There's alot of music i found on Pandora that i really like, but is not on iTunes. I'd order albums from amazon, but its cheaper to get it off iTunes most of the time.
@LLM: Willow hates on everybody and every band save a very select few. It is pointless to attempt an intelligent conversation with the punk. I've found it is less frustrating and more fun to give him a humorous slam and move on.
I love the song "The Maiden and the Minstrel Knight" It's like a combonation of alot of styles(but not all) BG uses slammed together in one!!
@OMW: That would be Willow hating on BG. Good for you if you are becoming numb to him because that will help with maintaining sanity.
@ Plague: Ahhh, I see. I don't even consider Willow's remarks as part of conversation s anymore. His antics seem to get weaker as time goes on, or perhaps I am becoming numb to him.
