Bond
Biography
Polarizing critics since their 2000 inception, Bond have continued to perfect their fusion of pop, worldbeat, and classical instrumentation. Eos Chater (violin), Haylie Ecker (violin), Gay-Yee Westerhoff (cello), and Tania Davis (viola) were well-educated musically, having played their specific instruments since early childhood and accompanied acts like the Divine Comedy, Primal Scream, Embrace, and Mark Knopfler. But the quartet couldn't find a happy medium. They raised the classical world's ire with their short skirts and electronic programming, but Bond wasn't purely pop or dance either, alienating them on most sides. Born appeared Decca in early 2001, and showcased salsa, house, and European folk textures over modified classical melodies. The following year's Shine was a hit on the classical crossover charts, a place inhabited by similarly accessible artists like Josh Groban and Sarah Brightman. A 2003 remix album was Bond's admission that they wouldn't go quietly, content in their slick, shiny approach to classical, pop, and dance music. They toured Europe and Asia throughout that year, and appeared a series of cross-promotional ads for the US department store chain Marshall Field's. The Classified LP followed in 2004, and 2005's Explosive was a greatest hits set that included unreleased tracks and bonus video content. ~ MacKenzie Wilson, All Music Guide

Its bond as in bondage, they got it so they might as well flaunt it all the way to the bank!!
Tauria I don't know the origin of the band name but they are still playing and can be followed on Facebook as can Escala and Catya Maré
Did they name themselves after James Bond as in "Bond Girls" or the "Bond" the have as a group? Otherwise I like this particular track, I feel like I'm watching a James Bond film with an exotic location.

The LasVegasBoll y w o o d comment is bizarre at best. This type of crossover classical music has brought a new life to music and brought millions of people who would otherwise never be exposed to classical influence to experience the richness of pop and classical combined in a form far richer then either of them seperately provide

Love the music, but do not enjoy their music videos. They need to find a competent director.
Not quite as good as Vanessa-Mae ... but very good nonetheless. Screw the classics-sno b s .
GOOO BOND!!!! Yeah i love bond bu tim so sad to see that haylie is leaving the group... she was my favorite!!! She had the most aggressive attitude when playing.
Watch the live DVD at Royal Hall to get a real feel for their in person and in concert experience. The music is great too,I often play the DVD running in the background while I work on something on the computer.
I don't beleive it can go any further - 4 beautiful sexiest women playing gorgeous music...
they are definately talented, i enjoy the music on a daily basis but eh, everyone has their own perception on looks. id have to meet them in person to accumulate whether they are hot or not.
gotta love the strings! these girls are HOT and can make their beautiful music! :D <3
Ditto Stu. Give me a girl with legs like that and a violin to boot and sweet music is the order of the night.
I normally don't like the skinny model type but good gawd, I'd marry any of them in a second!!! Such beauty and talent in only four people.
So are the musicians actually previous Bond Girls from the movies by any chance? Just wondering.
I heard their music after I saw a video on tv and went right out and bought the cd
but being hot sure helps |
This is one of the few groups I would want to see in concert. I love Homecoming and Gypsy Rhapsody. They also led me to get into Vanessa-Mae, who I also think is really good.
I would not have expected this group to play this music. I'm very impressed. Maybe this can bring a revival of popular instrumental music. I appreciate their music. (Man, they're hot.)

I often hear people complain because of the way the ladies from Bond look, as though their music would be any better or more worth listening to if they were homely looking or ugly?? Give me a break. Yes, believe it or not, there really are beautiful AND talented women in this world! Be afraid, world!! *rolls her eyes*
Personally, I love Bond. Their music is exceptional, each of the ladies has her very own style and personality, but they all blend together perfectly. True awesomeness. |
incredible music. wonderful performances . sickeningly pop culturized presentation .
...why? I love it and I hate it. |
Classic example of Sexploitatio n in the entertainmen t industry. I can't help but wonder if the gal's are happy with this? Too easy to get lost in it & compromised. . . Keep your guard up Ladies!
