Biography
Smooth and silky R&B group Brownstone formed in Los Angeles in 1993 around the trio of Mimi, Nicci, and Maxee. Their debut single "Pass the Lovin'" performed respectably on the R&B charts, but the follow-up "If You Love Me" became a big hit, reaching the Top Ten of the pop charts and pushing Brownstone's first album, From the Bottom Up, into platinum territory. Additional singles "Grapevyne" and "I Can't Tell You Why" (an Eagles cover) also did well, though Mimi was forced to leave the group in 1995 due to health problems; she was replaced by Kina Cosper. Brownstone released their second album, Still Climbing, in June 1997. ~ John Bush, All Music Guide

I don't know why they died off. This is what a female group was supposed to be about. All three of these women had god given talent.

I used to listen to Brownstone at work and it really made my day, smiling when you really dont feel like it, It just brings out the best in a person, because the music and voices are so beautiful!

One of the members Maxie is doing plays. Mimi had some sort of throat cancer. But there will never be another group as such. Their blend of harmony and melody was beyond their yrs at that time. The new groups some are worthy but< Brownstone, Swv , envogue and escape were awesome and you felt their music and spirt

Someone told me that Mimi died a few years ago from whatever illness caused her to leave the group. Is this true?

i was surprised to hear this music on the gospel selection,fr o m the lyrics,there is nothing spiritual about this song rather its more sensual than spiritual,i enjoyed it but when i decide to listen to gospel music please lets remain at that tempo ok.
