Casting Crowns
Biography
Christian pop group Casting Crowns began as a student worship band in Daytona Beach, FL, in 1999. Led by singer, songwriter, and youth pastor Mark Hall, the group initially included guitarists Juan DeVevo and Hector Cervantes and violinist Melodee DeVevo. The group relocated to McDonough, GA, in 2001, adding Chris Huffman on bass, Megan Garrett on keyboards and accordion, and drummer Andy Williams. This augmented version of Casting Crowns released two independent albums on CD, both of which were well received in the Atlanta area. One of the albums found its way into the hands of Mark Miller, lead singer for country group Sawyer Brown, who was struck by Casting Crowns' driving pop/rock style and Hall's vocal delivery of his hard-hitting but devout songs. Miller signed Casting Crowns to his fledgling Beach Street Records, a division of Reunion Records with distribution by the Provident Label Group, and took the group into the studio along with co-producer Steven Curtis Chapman, himself a popular artist on the CCM musical scene. The resulting album, Casting Crowns, was released in 2003 on the Beach Street imprint. A sampler with five songs, Live from Atlanta, was released on Reunion Records in 2004, packaged with a bonus DVD containing band interviews and a music video. Lifesong, released in August 2005, was their most successful record yet and became a Top Ten national hit. ~ Steve Leggett, All Music Guide

They are awesome. I've seen them twice and each time they brought down the house. By the way, they are a christian rock/worship group, not pop.

I love Casting Crowns! They are really, sincerely challenging to us to be for real Christians. I am a little surprised that they only have the live version of the album "Lifesong" because it went platinum and yet they still have it put on here. Why? Anyway, Casting Crowns is awesome on every CD yet.I Love this band!Check out those video's on You Tube for "Who Am I"....this song echoes in the heart of every believer...f r o m the Psalmist of the Old Testament down thru the ages until today, tomor

I am currently reading unChristian, a book by a Christian think tank, that presents for Christians how non-Christia n youth (14-36) view Christians. Their song "If We Are the Body" plays in my head after I set it down. We need to a better job of reaching America. Christ came to love, He dined and healed the outcasts. We must protect from becoming like the Sadducees and Pharisees.

casting crowns is my favorite band of all time! their music helps me reflect on how we really should be living.
their music reminds me how i should be living my life during the day. conviction isnt a bad thing, it helps us grow and become more like Christ... which is what being a christian means "little Christs"
I love this group there music touches your soul and makes you reflect on your personal life and how your spiritual life is with GOD..

Sorry big boss, not everything can be feel good. They are singing about the church, which is imperfect. They are singing about us overcoming that imperfection ( D o e s anyone hear her)with his grace to the point we pour that grace into others. Everything points back to the cross.....Me r c y , grace, and a loving Father.

I do not like these guys. I think their lyrics in songs like "If We Are the Body" are preachy and borderline condemning.
They sound like Mercy Me, another group that I'd rather not hear. |
The first time I listened to Casting Crowns they had me from get go. I have all thier CDs and keep a close check to make sure I am up to date on thier releases. I was telling my pastors wife about them and she said that her three children listened to nothing else. They are awsome.

This is one of my favorite Christian pop/rock bands. I listen to them all day at work. I have really enjoyed your music!
Awesome!! They keep it real and challenge us to dig deep into our hearts and examine our walks. That's how it should be! Bravo, guys! Keep Rockin' for Jesus!!
I REALLY like like CC! I have seen them live in concert and THAT was cool! I was on the crew that set up the stage, lights and everything for them. Being a fan, that was a real honor, and I got paid to do it!
I'm a huge Rich Mullins fan, and these guys write songs that have the kind of meaning Rich put into his music. Voice of Truth is one such song. |
cc is my favorite christian band ever!!They are so awesome!! Mark Hall has the best voice!!! Keep on doing what u guys are doing!! God bless
