co-sign ucouldb: you can't tell me that Arlene wasn't going thru some "drama" when she sang this - her heart is in it and it gets to mine. Blue lights in the basement indeed.

This song choked me up at 14, and still chokes me up today, at 64. "Maybe" is quite probably the greatest Doo-Wop love song of all time, though "I Love You So" will wrench the heartstrings of all but the dead. God bless the Chantels

Janis Joplin did a fine version of this on Ed Sullivan--av a i l a b l e on the box set

The Chantels, the Tymes, etc., etc., where has all the great music gone??? Oh, wait, it is right here on Pandora! Kids today have no idea what they are missing!!!!

I really appreciate the melodies and harmonies of do wop singers in general. The closest we have to that today is acapella music.
One of the greastes Rock n Roll groups of all times loved the song Maybe

I just love the songs of the Chantels. Great memories of the past. RAP artist could never compete with the doowop era.......
the song 'I' was made by the Chantels in the '50's. Do you have it?

I was only 8 years od when this came out, but I can only imagine what a great slow dance song this was with "your honey"

This was my older brother's favorite record for a few weeks so, I got to wake up every morning to it. A pretty good way to start my day, I'd say!!!!

Arlene Smith had the most soulful voice of all the ladies of the Rock & Roll era. She was/is brilliant!

I REMEMBER DANCING THE" LINOLEUM DANCE " WITH MY FAVORITE GIRL, TO THE CHANTELS. YOU REMEMBER THE "LINOLEUM DANCE" YOU HELD YOUR GIRL REAL CLOSE AND DANCED IN ONE SQUARE ON THE FLOOR. NOW YOU NEVER TOUCH.

i still remember hearing the Chantels sweet harmonies on my first transistor radio. i would feel their sadness and longing and understood that when you heart is breaking the most natural thing to do is sing - The Plea, Look Into My Eyes, He's Gone, Maybe - such honest yearning made into song for my tender ears. thank you ladies for teaching me about young love, and heartfelt harmony.

Listening to She's Gone by The Chantels is a song I listen to remember and I listen to forget. It was amazing time in my life!
I would go "back" to those days in a heartbeat! Not only to hear the tunes, but to live the uncomplicate d life! I truly enjoyed my teenage years, even though they were overshadowed by the JFK assination and Viet Nam...the music and closeness of my neighborhood got us thru it all. What a far cry from the "superficial " way of life today!
