Biography
Originally known as the Chiodos Bros., the sextet better known as simply Chiodos (pronounced "chee-OH-dose") -- named after an obscure '80s horror movie term -- came together during high school in their hometown of Davison, MI, located just outside of Flint. Citing influences like Saves the Day, At the Drive-In, and Queen, the band's sound was a melting pot of punk energy, metal riffing, melodic instincts, piano tinkering, and occasional electronic beats that prevented an easy genre classification. Comprised of vocalist Craig Owens, keyboardist/vocalist Bradley Bell, guitarists Pat McManaman and Jason Hale, bassist Matt Goddard, and drummer Derrick Frost, the band recorded a demo, The Best Way to Ruin Your Life, in June 2002. The release, along with the band's energetic and powerful live show, helped bolster a notable local following.
They next self-recorded and produced the seven-song The Heartless Control Everything in McManaman's bedroom, which was subsequently issued by Ann Arbor-based indie Search and Rescue in January 2003. Following the release, the guys hit the road hard, trekking across the nation seven times over, including shows with Yellowcard and Coheed & Cambria.

no he's not dumba**, austin (the guy from attack attack) started a new band a while back called Of Mice And Men, theyre already signed to rise records and recording their first album.

Craigs voice is what made the chiodos great, if you cant hear that you dont know music. His voice is AMAZING and i dont know how you can even agrue that.

It doesn't matter. They can find plenty more ways to be unique. But it doesn't matter now cause Craig left the band. Maybe they will acyually be semi good once and if they find a replacement singer.

I heard that their singer is leaving the band.
Their show at our Warped Tour this year was pretty bad at first...Like , they sounded awful. They got somewhat better though. The singer forgot, literally, half of "Baby, You Wouldn't Last A Minute on the Creek." But there was an awesome wall of death (just glad I wasn't near it!) and some 60 people were all crowd surfing at once. Insane. |

I gotta say that everything except this guys singing is great. Great guitar, drums, and screams. But his girly voice sounds like he's taking it up the a** and it kills the whole band. They'd be a lot better if he could actually sing.

Craig Owens has the voice of a god. I love his singing style so much. These guys are flat out amazing.
