Chuckii Booker
Biography
A very capable musician, Chuckii Booker was prominent on the urban contemporary front as an instrumentalist, bandleader, songwriter, and performer. Born in Los Angeles, he was proficient on guitar and drums by age 14, but for a while preferred graphic art to music. His godfather, Barry White, signed him to a deal with White's production company in 1984, but Booker left after White failed to issue an LP he recorded. He joined Tease, and played keyboards with them for three years. Booker began to earn his reputation as a producer after this, working with C.J. Anthony, White, Geoffrey Williams, and Lalah Hathaway. He also recorded as an instrumentalist with Vanessa Williams, Troop, and Kool & the Gang, and toured with Janet Jackson as her musical director on the Rhythm Nation tour. Booker has also recorded as a solo act for Atlantic, including Niice 'n Wiild in 1992. ~ Ron Wynn, All Music Guide

Wow, I was 13 when this song came out. It was right around the time En Vogue's single, Never gonna Get It was playing on the radio. Good times and memories.

This is directed @ ismayo! You only heard one that you thought was a hit! Chuckii as skills along the line of Prince!!! The reason I say that is because of him not striving to be a front man He would much rather be the Producer and Song Writer or don't you know that is where the money in this industry lies. Here are some groups for you to research; Tease ( The Whole Album), Troop(Spread my wings)and many others

Chuckii is a musical maestro. Glad to have been blessed to listen to your music.

"One Hit Wonder"? I guess it depends on how you look at it. One hit for himself as an artist, maybe but he was the producer and musical director for Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation. As recently as 2007, he was a producer and musical director for Lionel Richie's "Coming Home". He's made plenty of "Hits" for others.
this was the nice stepping song in Chicago back in the day and what ever happened to him, I guess just a "One Hit Wonder". I love to listen to this smooth riding song with its nice syncopated beat
1988 was the last time I spoke to my first love. 20yrs later, after contacting my mom to reach me, she just explained to me over the phone that I still got action! All I could do is listen to Chuckii and ask - WHY YOU WANNA?
Chuckii I miss your voice I love your music you got me through so many hard times as a teenager. Thank you
Love your voice, you are so very talented! Sure miss it. Hope you come out with something new soon. We met during one of Dayton Ohio's WROU summer concerts, where my husband and I treated you to dinner. Never was reimbursed for that dinner, btw . . . maybe you could roll back thru Dayton and return the favor? . . .

I had to go to Wiki to figure the name of the song I knew from Chuckii - It was Turned Away. That song came out shortly after he left Troop, I think.
