on that note emo they are not inudstrial or synth-pop maybe but not emo
we should be able to remove other comments other people put up if they're stupid enough! : \
Colony 5 = not emo (to intelligent people) Colony 5 = emo (to people who don't care to know what they're talking about) |
From the few songs I've heard so far, this sounds like a pretty good band! :D
Colony 5 doesn't sound like DM, well, the vocals are definitely similar, but not the music. I want more.
definitely not Depeche Mode...too edgy to be them....
Definitely NOT emo...ugh... s o m e people think everything is emo/goth... |
thought "emo" was some crybaby rock/punk sounding music, like greenday and jimmy eat world. Emo girls are cute. the guys are just sad... ahh what do i know. What do i care? just a bunch of kids trying to be like each other and say they are being a individual.
what the hells w/this "emo" crap talk? if you're going to label this and others like it emo, you'd have to label pretty much all of 80's music as emo too. now, where do i keep the razor blades? oh,in the closet w/these broken noose(s).
r u the same people as Depeshe Mode? U sound sooo musch like them. U R awsome/.
JSN |
@robhawker ... yes they bear a resemblance to Depeche Mode, but I think they are excellent. It's more dance than industrial, but it has those minor industrial chords, and I really like the vocals ... the singer's voice is on the cusp of rebellion and adulthood - which is where I live.
hahah missed the comment 2 below mine that said they also heard DM in there.
Hmm, am i the only one that thinks they sound like Depeche mode? Either way, love them
Just what I like: fast, high-continu i t y , high-density , clean, eurocentric, and in the minor key......... . . . N i r v a n a ! Oh, and no sleazy, stupid love-song lyrics.
i love depeche mode and copy-cats. but from what i just heard, in it's day depeche mode wasn't even goth, much less emo. it was "new romantics" along with Adam Ant.
say what you will about dark male-fronted synth-pop. call it gay (i think depeche-clon e s are way hot, but...), call it depressing (like that's a *bad* thing), call it goth or not-goth, but please, don't call it "emo"! calling this "emo" is like like calling this "heavy metal" or "swing". cuz it just ain't! |
Yup, Colony 5- fun and dancey. with foot-grabbin g rhythm. Yay!
What's with people ragging on "emo"? Some of the music is dull, sure, but all things dark are not all emo. :P I tend to like darker lyrics over "hormone-son g s " , as pain is part of life, too. Nothing wrong with being emotional- if we can face our pains, we can control them. Look at the Top 40 mainstream- love and sex, almost nothing but- that's "emo", too! "Emo"= emotional, that's all. Back to the Industrial fun! |
And yes, I saw them live, too, amazing showmanship! Blew me away! Woo-hoo!!! Love those English-is-n o t - m y - f i r s t- l a n g u a g e lyrics! How surreal!
Geez, people! How judgmental, as we say in my part of the country! Am I the only one who falls into the lyrics and is whirled away by the music? This is this band's song, fer cry's sake! Get into it or don't, but stop labeling stuff emo as if that's the worst thing you can call it! Emo is, goth is, rock is, blah blah blah! Oh, was that my out-loud voice??? LOL!
I'm not slamming anyone who likes this band; it's just not my cup of tea.
I would have to agree with fdpugh, this is flamingly emo. Awesome music if it was just instrumental , but the Depechmode-f l a v o r e d lyrics is a real turn-off. It almost makes me want to cut myself & curl into a fetal position in the corner & cry that nobody understands me.
If I heard more than that flamingly emo "Trust Me" song I might be able to say that I like these guys... the music works but the rest is a little ghey.
It's a shame that Pandora only has this one album to display... iTunes has a couple more of Colony 5's albums, but it's still not the complete list of albums from them either! I have had the pleasure of seeing them live twice and they have awesome stage presence and know how to get the crowd moving. While their albums, especially their earlier ones, are difficult to find, once you do, it's so worth it because their music is superb.
Similar to the Cruxshadows - Rogue-like vocals, poetic lyrics, upbeat synth tracks that are danceable... I'm a fan!
good stuff, hard to find in america at least.... but thats not a suprise for most synthpop.
>:( |
Yes!!!! I love the words, and the singing is very nice! Not to even mention the synth arrangements . I haven't looked them up yet, but from the syntax I'm guessing they ain't American or English.
