Combichrist
Biography
One of the most popular acts in the electro-industrial related "aggrotech" movement, Combichrist is solely Icon of Coil founder Andy LaPlegua when in the studio, augmented by a revolving cast of musicians for their intense live shows. LaPlegua launched the project in 2003 with the album The Joy of Gunz released by the German label Out of Line. Two years later Everybody Hates You became Combichrist's first release on the American label Metropolis. The "Get Your Body Beat" single was purposefully released on July 6, 2006 (6/6/6) and gave the band their first Billboard chart position with six weeks on the magazine's dance chart. The track landed on their 2007 album What the F**k Is Wrong with You People? a breakthrough effort which also featured the club hits "Electrohead" and "Deathbed." The year 2008 saw the audience increase thanks to a support slot on Mindless Self Indulgence's tour of the U.S., along with the release of Combichrist's Frost EP: Sent to Destroy. An appearance on the Underworld: Rise of the Lycans soundtrack plus a new album, Today We Are All Demons, kicked off 2009. ~ David Jeffries, All Music Guide
Selected Discography
Combichrist is considered 'Aggro-Tech' . I got to see them in Austin, TX. Great sound, but I prefer 'Terror-Tech " - example: Psyclon Nine, Life Cried, Suicide Commando, etc....... Great name for a band tho!! I am also in Combat w/ Christ; and an Enemy of God!!
Keep spreading the Hate!! |

These guys are really awesome fellows to hang with. Andy even signed my toddler's drum head. Seriously, they put on an awesome show and are fun guys to boot. HARDCORE! LOUD! ROCK!

Only someone NOT familiar with this kind of music would say CC and anyone else is trying to sound like NIN. Go back to music school, tool box.
Funker Vogt, CC, Suicide Commando and Retrosic are undoubtedly my favorite bands of all time.

Saw this band live at Convergence in New Orleans, decent club music, horrible live. Could have been the night, seemed they were having a lot of technical difficulties , but I guess that happens when your band relies soley on electronics. The singing wasn't good at all, nothing like the album. Off tempo, and he was just yelling into the mic. That being said, their albums are good and I would buy more.

make me think KMFDM + Angelspit
I really hated these guys for some reason when I first heard them (is is more than one guy?). Anyways I rediscovered Combi with "WTF is wrong..." and it's grown on me. Yay for me.
Not the best lyrics, but the music isn't bad. And you gotta love the album titles!
Holy Mother of F**K! I'm listening to PRODUCTS. For me, this is as close to perfection as music can get.

These guys play one of the best shows live. I've seen KMFDM 24 times now, the last time CC opened for them in Minneapolis. They showed 'em up, and Sascha and company I think knew it. Sascha being Sascha had no issues with it, and invited them out for a few songs towards the end. Andy came out with his camera and was filming the crowd- Sascha was praising him and allowed him to sing along for a song or two. What a show!! I recommend anyone seeing CC live if they ever have the chance. No regrets!

I went out on a limb and bought their album, "Everybody Hates You" a couple of years ago. It *made* me dance. After one of the songs, I said to myself, "this is badass!" Combichrist is different from nearly everyone in the genere. You can't really put your finger on exactly wht they are, but whatever it is, it's f**king awesome!
i heard these guys in rome about three thousands years ago and they were awesome they reminded me of Nero-and then the lions ate them oh well one of the best shows i ever saw. wait did they break up....
Imperative you listen to this band if you're KMFDM, etc...excell e n t !
I seen these guys in columbia mo and it was bad a**, they played with KMFDM and I thought they were a better show!
this is cool, never heard anything like these guys before. it's like a couple other metal/techno bands, except this has more techno than metal in it
good ole' aGGrOteCH ;)
cheers to Andy LaPlegua.... much enjoy Icon of Coil as well |
<= Some one actually has this in with a mixture of Hannah Montana, and Dokken... WTF?!
i think the album titles say it all here... these people are awesome, dark and possessing a great sense of humor... what more could a girl ask for???
i've only ever listened to 'everybody hates you' all the way through, it's interesting to hear him sing more in the latter two but have it still work very well. good stuff ;)
Really good sound. I'm an old rivethead and it's been awhile since I found some new Industrial that I liked. Just heard a "Products" remix. What else is good?

Andy LaPlegua started with Icon of Coil, and has another side project called Panzer AG. Check out the bio on Combichrist on www.metropol i s - r e c o r d s . c o m .

Bio info: Andy LaPlegua is the band - started as DJ but now plays instruments as well. Married but will f**k anything female anyway. Calls his music "aggrotech". Does a lot of remixes for various artists.

Combichrist rocks my brainbox.
Anyone know any bio information about them? They have at least three releases, so someone must know. |
