Go to the If Ever I Return album & play Who Will Comfort Me. If you appreciate wilderness at all it will almost break your heart. That song was my intro to her & I have heard it live!

Pure Deep and Full of Soul. Trained at Juliard and rode the cattle drive. Who could ask for more? I agree La Fontaine is beyond words. Wish she would come out to the left coast, I'd love to hear her in person. Just for kicks check out her high notes on an oscilloscope tracing..alm o s t pure sine waves. By far the best interpreter of old old folk and Americana. Wish she would do a Civil War album...or anything!

She performs live every year at the Irish Fest in Weston, Mo. It's just outside of Kansas City... she sounds just as good live as she does recorded!
And Mediaeval Baebes is on Pandora. I have a couple of their songs on my play list. |
Her sound reminds me of The Medaeival Baebes, which is a group I wish Pandora would add to their database - the only place they're listed is under "holiday", which is a shame. Both have a hauntingly beautiful sound.

Crystal clear voice. Not powerful, but the way she uses it is great. So many singers have no idea how to use their voices these days, but she's definitely one that knows exactly what she can sing. Beautiful. The harmonies in "La Fontaine" are incredible. I can't believe I haven't heard of her before!

Can't get enough of this voice and her songs. So haunting and beautiful!!! ! !
She is a great vocalist, I use to hear her at a bar called Murphy's Landing in KC with Scartaglen.

My wife gave me "If Ever I Return" for Christmas a few years ago. We were pretty tired of carols by that point, so we played the new CD, along with “The Wishing Well”, through the rest of the day. Connie’s music fit the occasion perfectly.

Thrills my soul! My spirit soars on the wings of hers. I have absolutely no idea of the meaning of the lyrics, but my heart is touched by hers. Second only to Eva Cassidy.
I am another huge Connie Dover fan, but why has she not recorded since 2000?
From one Missourian, with pride, about another...ab s o l u t e l y BEAUTIFUL!

I first heard Connie on a Celtic compilation cd. She reminds me more of Mary Fahl than Loreena McKennitt.
This lady reminds me so much like Loreena McKennitt. Her voice carries across the heavens like the angels Our Lord created for folks such as myself.Smoke y o k e '
