Craig Morgan
Biography
Singer/songwriter Craig Morgan was an army brat before he opted for a career in music. Born and raised in Nashville, Morgan was already a country music fan with dreams of playing guitar and making it big. But before his musical dreams could become reality, Morgan spent time serving in the U.S. Army, where he had a very respectable career and achieved high honors during peace and wartime. It was also during this time that Morgan whetted his guitar-playing styles to perform for troops whenever he could. Such passion led to a deal with Atlantic and a spot out of the service. His self-titled debut was released in May 2000. His next three albums, 2002's I Love It, 2005's My Kind of Livin', and 2006's Little Bit of Life, all appeared on Broken Bow Records. ~ MacKenzie Wilson, All Music Guide

I agree with Chad (see below comments)... C r a i g is so underated... s a w him again
at a country fair and was not disappointed . . . . l o v e his songs, lyrics, what he stands for.. |
By far the most underated country artist of today. Hell of a song writer and entertainer. His music gets me through the long days and nights here in Iraq. He always takes me home no matter where the Marine Corps takes me.
WE Fest should have him back FOR SURE! He drew the biggest crowd during that time slot I have ever seen.

Bottom line is that Craig is a great songwriter as "Almost Home" clearly attests to. His being a good singer is just an extra...it's his words that stick in your heart!!! Keep on writing 'em Craig!!!!
I saw him on TV a few years ago. He was being interviewed and was asked about his song "Almost Home". The song is about a homeless person. The interviewer asked him how he came to write such a song. Craig said that he had written the song before he had a record contract. He had met a homeless person sleeping in an alley, just like in the song. The interviewer asked him if he ever went back to give him a hand. Craig said no way. NO WAY!!? That doesn't get him the citizenship of the year award...
That was a poor write-up. First of all, an Army brat can't grow up in one town, like Nashville. And second, you make it sound like being in the Army is a prison sentence. He signed up for it, he excelled in it, and we should all be proud and thankful he did. Honor it, don't make it sound like he had to make music to get 'free' of the Army.
