Biography
São Paulo, Brazil's provocative, freewheeling dance-rock sextet CSS take their name from an abbreviation of "cansei de ser sexy," which is Portuguese for "tired of being sexy" (though, considering that the lead singer goes by the name Lovefoxxx, it's arguable how much that phrase actually applies to the band). CSS also include bassist Iracema Trevisan, guitarist/drummer/keyboardist Luiza Sá, guitarist Ana Rezende, guitarist/drummer Carolina Parra, and vocalist/multi-instrumentalist/producer Adriano Cintra (also a member of Thee Butchers' Orchestra).
The band formed in 2003, after meeting at clubs and through Internet social networking groups such as Fotolog and Trama Virtual, and began crafting its unique but unpretentious sound through trial and error. CSS' net-savvy ways led to them becoming a phenomenon on the Web; their extensively downloaded songs eventually caught the attention of more traditional media in Brazil and Europe. The band released two EPs on their own in 2004, Em Rotterdam Ja e uma Febre and A Onda Mortal/Uma Tarde com PJ, before signing to Trama Virtual in 2005. That fall, their debut album, Cansei de Ser Sexy, was released in Brazil, along with a bonus EP, CSS SUXXX.

First saw these guys years ago when they opened for Ladytron. Never heard of them prior but by far the best show ever. So much fun.

i remember hearing cansei de ser sexy on a sampler somewhere a couple few years ago...I also remembering scouring the web for the band and coming up with nothing at the time...as soon as it came on just now it blew me away - hadn't heard 'em again since that time and only put it together after seeing that de ser sexy was one of their titles! - they also got my attention with the death from above reference - another awesome band I've been crazy about for years!

this music has saved my life
i usually listen to crazy stuff, but since i started listening to ccs and similar bands i feel more energized and positive. It doesn't hurt that they are hot brazilian chicks ;D so i'd have to agree with HayWire21! i feel like dancing |

i don't think lyrics always need to be profound or invigorating . sometimes, just give me pretty voice and some fun music and i'll gladly tap my feet. i think CSS does that quite well.
